The five of them got home late that night. Ronnie offered for Max to stay the night with her, but Max refused, telling her that she had to go home to at least leave her a mom a note for tomorrow's journey.

Right when Ronnie settles in bed, there's a light knock on her window that scares her. Slowly crawling out of bed with the bat near her nightstand and slowly creeping towards the curtains with her heart rate rising.

"Ronnie, it's me." A voice whispers, and Ronnie sighs, putting her bat down and pulling back the curtains exposing Steve.

"With everything going on, knocking on my window in the middle of the night may not be the best idea." Ronnie informs Steve as he crawls in.

"Shit, sorry, you're right." He agrees, letting out a deep breath as he wipes off his yellow sweater.

It was Ronnie's favorite sweater to see on Steve. She always thought the yellow complimented his brown hair and brown eyes, making him look so cuddly and cozy.

"Worried about me, Harrington?" Ronnie teases him, crawling into her bed.

"Force of habit when something's going on in Hawkins." Steve answers, smirking at her.

"You, uh, got a new desk." Steve mentions, pointing to the wall by her door.

"Yeah, curtesy of retail therapy for when your parents aren't around." Ronnie jokes.

There's a brief silence between them, it was the first time they were together without Robin since they broke things off.

"I should've just called, I'm sorry." Steve apologizes, making his way back towards the window.

"Can you stay?" Ronnie blurts out.

Steve pulls his leg back into the room, standing up straight to look at Ronnie from the moonlight.

"I, um, would feel better if you did." She adds.

He couldn't say no to her big brown eyes, and he didn't want to. Immediately slipping off his shoes, then getting into the bed with her. Ronnie turns to face away from him, trying to fall asleep but Steve tosses and turns multiple times.

"You're sweating, aren't you?" Ronnie speaks up.

There's a sigh from Steve. "Yeah."

"Well take off your clothes, so you can stop moving around every 2 seconds." Ronnie insists.

She feels him get out of bed, hearing him shuffle around as he takes off his clothes, unsure how much he was taking off but when he settled in bed again, they didn't say a word again. Just the comfort of him being next to her made her fall asleep instantly.

The next morning, Ronnie rolled completely over, and when she realized she didn't even bump into Steve she opened her eyes to an empty bed. As soon as she started to sit up, his legs appeared coming through the window.
