Vidar

Over the centuries that Vidar has been alive, he can only remember one time he was this angry. And that was when his father told him about Ragnarök and how he would be one of the only survivors. He was scared and angry and as much as he hated to admit it, relieved. It was the reason he and Vali were so close. Thor and Tyr and his father will all die along with most of his family. It's why he and Vali were always isolated from the others. Not out of jealousy or hate. But because they didn't want their deaths to be any harder on the youngest of the Odins sons.

But this was different. This was just hate. He sat in front of the mortal he hated the most. Rollo. The man who was baptized into the Christian faith. The man who betrayed Ragnar and killed One Eye. The man that was spared by Ragnar and the law giver. The old man said he consulted with the Gods, but Vidar knew the only thing he consulted was his own purse.

The two just glared at each other while ignoring the world around them. The looked into each other's eyes and wondered who would make the first move. Vidar would kill him in a heartbeat, but he didn't want to do it in front of Bjorn and Gyda. He knew they loved their uncle, and Rollo knew that they were the only reason he has breath in his lungs.

Then there was Aslaug and Lagertha. Vidar wasn't sure what Lagertha was thinking right now. He knew she loved him and the life they built together. But the look Lagertha had on her face when she saw Ragnar's three sons broke his heart.

Ubbe, Hvitserk, and little Sigurd were still young and innocent in all of this. He had Bjorn and Gyda take them to a separate room. Thyri and Siggy also reunited and were with the little ones.

So, the only four in the hall were Vidar, Lagertha, Rollo, and Aslaug. And Sif. He could see her in the rafters above them. He kept his mouth shut only because she might be the only thing keeping his anger in check. "Horik and Ragnar broke their agreement to him. Are you surprised he did this?" Vidar asks.

"It does not matter if we are surprised it happened or not." Aslaug says. "What matters is that it happened."

"It happened for a reason that I believe is justified." Vidar tells them. "Now you want me to risk my life and the lives of my men to help you? I have no allegiance to Ragnar or Horik. Whys shouldn't I take you back to him?"

Aslaug looked horrified while Rollo continued to glare at him. "What do you want?" Rollo asks.

Vidar smiles. "That is the real question, isn't it? Not about morality of the Gods will. What is it that I want that will make me throw out my morals to help you." Vidar chuckles and looks to his wife. "Jarl Borgs land and titles. They will go to Jareth and Gyda."

Rollo's eyes widened. "Anything else?"

"An agreement that from now on Hedeby and Gotaland will join Kattegat in any raid they have in the future. Any break in this agreement, like done to Jarl Borg will not happen." Vidar says.

"How will you stop that from happening?" Aslaug asks.

"Because then you will have to deal with Hedeby by land and Gotaland by sea." Vidar then turns to Rollo. "You've seen very little of what I can do, Rollo." He lets the silence build in the hall before saying his last demand. "In a few days there will be another guest coming here. I need you two to keep your mouths shut while she is here."

"Why?" Rollo asks.

"That is none of your concern." Vidar stands up. "If you do not agree with my demands then I will send you back to Jarl Borg."

Aslaug stands up looking worried. "Don't you know what he'll do to my sons?!"

"Your sons will stay here." Vidar tells her. "It's just you and Rollo he wants. You have till the morning to decide."
