WHY DOES IT FEEL LIKE GOODBYE?

"What is that?" I asked terrified

"They'd something in there" Mike said

"Keep her talking, keep her awake okay?" I told them as I rushed to a diner kitchen. I picked up a knife, some gloves and a wooden spatula.

I put the knife over the stove to let it heat up when it got hit enough I rushed back to els side

"Hey sis this is gonna hurt a lot so I want you to bite down on this okay." I said as I handed her the spatula

I brought the knife to her leg and cut open the wound. A gag left my mouth as the creature continued to wiggle around in her leg

"Lemme see if I can use my powers to get it out" I told her and she nodded her head

I put my hand against her leg catching the creature. It's movement stopped and I slowly began pulling it out

My head was spinning and black spots were beginning to flood my eyes but I continued

El began to scream and she broke the glass frame behind her

I groaned the pain from at the past beating attacking me all at once. I lifted the creature out of her leg and quickly threw it far away on the floor.

It's screeching was the only thing to be heard until it was squashed by a big black boot

It was Hopper and Joyce

"Are we even sure this thing is still alive?" Joyce asked

"El and Alex beat the shit out of it but yeah, it's still alive" max said as she stroked Alex's hair.

"But if we close the gate again cut the brain off from the body" will spoke

"And kill it, theoretically" Lucas inputed standing behind Alex.

A man in only a vest and short comes wandering in waving his hands like a mad man

Alex and Max moved away from the rest of the group to talk quickly

"Hey" Alex said with a smile on his face. He went to put his hand in his pockets when he found the rings he bought them at the start of the summer

"Hey um Max, remember when at the start of the summer you were all mad at me and Mike"
Alex told them

"I wasn't mad at you I was mad at Mike" Max said nudging his arm playfully

"Well anyway I got something for you but I never had a chance to give it to you, I don't know I have a bad feeling that this isn't going to end well and-"

"It will end well we kill the mid flayer and everything will go back to normal" Max told him trying to reassure not only him but herself as well

"I don't think so, every time we kill one a new one just appears, this has happened for so long I don't even know what normal is anymore"

This before happy conversation had now turned into a sad one so Alex changed the topic

"I wanted to give you this" he handed her a ring with a fire symbol on it

"I think this fits your personality because your able to light up the room any chance you get, your tough and well the red hair of your says it all" Alex told her as she laughed at his last sentence

"And to match I got the lightning one" he  said with a cute smile on his face showing his dimples

Truth be told Alex was completely and utterly in love. Max was his light, his urge to go on, his life line. He's never met a girl like her before.

"What I'm trying to say before I chicken out here is-"

"Hey heads up. Dustin you can navigate, just from someplace safe" Hopper shouted to him

"It's not that simple, the signal wont reach" Erica explained

"Not with this. You need something with a high enough frequency band to relay with the Russians radio tower but for that to work you need someone who has both seen their comms room and had access to a super powered handcrafted radio tower on preferably already situated at the highest point in Hawkins. Oh wait, that's me." Dustin said

"If you want us to navigate you got us but we need a head start and a car"

"Our batteries are low but we can still fight" El told hopper and her and Alex sat besides him

"I know it will, but this thing is not after me but you two and I need you both stay. Your both my top priority right now. Do you understand?" He asked them both

Alex had tears coming out of his eyes he didn't want Hopper  to go he didn't have a good feeling about it

"At least let me come with you please, I'm fine and it'd be good to have someone with powers with you." Alex begged tears now spilling out of his eyes

"I need you both to understand please" Hopper said running a hand through their hair

"I don't have a good feeling about this, please dad let me come with you" Alex told him again

There was silence for a bit

"Fine but your not going anywhere without all of us with you, If I tell you to run you run okay"

"Promise" Alex told him

"Hey we should probably go" Mike said as he walked closer to the three

Whether they want to admit it or not Hopper, El and Alex had gotten closer over the time period and loved one another more than anyone could describe.Alex didn't want to leave his Dad never would he leave his dad. Alex and El both stood up and hugged Jim.

"Love you dad" El and Alex said and that was all Hopper needed before a few tears fell from his eyes as well

Alex moved away from his sister and his dad to talk with Max again

I'm not going with you, I'm going with my dad." He said wiping the tears from his eyes

"I'll be back with you in a heartbeat and we can go back to the skatepark and the arcade, we'll do everything" he said cupping her face he tried not to show the tears in his eyes but knew they he had failed when she also was crying

"Hey, please don't cry I'm not going anywhere" he said wiping her tears

"Then why does this feel like a goodbye" she asked him

"I'm not going to say goodbye because goodbye means I'm leaving and I'm not, I'm coming back To you I promise, I'll find my way back to you if that's the last thing I ever do. You know why? Because I love you Maxine Mayfield.
I love you more than you could ever imagine"

She stared at him shocked but also happy

"I love you too Alex Jordan, more than you would ever know" she whispered this reply and she held him close

As he kissed her forehead resting his head on hers
