INFINITY AND BEYOND

After hours and hours of flying Alex had made it back to Indian Hawkins

He ran as fast as his broken leg could take him, falling and stumbling a bit along the way.

However he didn't care, tears coming down his face with a smile

He ran straight to Max's house on Old cherry road. Not wasting anytime to see her

As he reached the door he waited a few minutes, to look composed and not like a complete psycho. He looked around but didn't see Billy's car out front or Max's skateboards. What's going on thought Alex

He shook his head bringing himself back to reality and took one deep breath before knocking on the door

He waited patiently fiddling with his fingers because even though he would never say it aloud, he had doubts if Max still loved him or if she had moved on.

"Oh hello dear" An old lady appeared at the door with a cat at her legs

"Hi- um I'm looking for my girl- my friend called Max Mayfield, she lived here about 1 year ago" Alex told her

"Oh yes,yes" was all the woman said with a kind smile

Alex's face showed slight confusion as he asked "Do you happen to know where the old tenants moved to?"

He sighed having to elaborate his question

"Oh yes yes" said the women again stroking her cat

"Could you maybe, tell me?" He asked now growing a bit impatient

"Well, since you asked so nicely dear. Your 'friend' moved to the trailer park with her mum in Forrest Hill"

Alex ignored her quotation marks at the word friend and just thanked her and went on to find Max

"I hope you find your girlfriend soon!" The old lady shouted from her door waving goodbye the Alex

A small smile just appeared before his face as this had been the kindest person he had met it a while

His legs had grown tired from all the walking and the sky had taken its other form of darkness

Alex decided he would see Max the next day so he went to visit Lucas. He walked on and on and on to his house.

And the anxiety washed over him again, what was Lucas going to say, would he be mad, would he even care anymore

It's your fault people die, stop trying to contact them. They've all moved on. They forgot about you, they're not your family. You have no family

"Shut up shut up shut up shut up!" Alex screamed loudly at the voice inside his head

He fell to the floor and began to cry. what if the voice saying that was right and he was just too scared to admit it.

All of a sudden his nose began to bleed and he quickly wiped it away with his jacket

Maybe it was better that they didn't know he was alive. They seemed fine without him.

Alex was only a few minutes away from Lucas' house and was about to turn around when he heard a soft whisper

"Alex, remember what you promised me, you promised me Alex."

It sounded alot like max. Alex then closed his eyes took a deep breath and continued walking towards Lucas' house muttering under his breath

'You promised her Alex, you promised her.'

Alex made his way to the window where he always entered Lucas' house

Looking up he saw that it was left open and on the window seal were all the stickers that he and Lucas put there

Maybe he hadn't forgotten.

With the remaining energy he had left he jumped up and grasped the window seal pulling himself upwards

He looked through the window and saw Lucas asleep and next to him was Alex's old sleeping bag.

Alex entered the bedroom and limped over to Lucas

He had grown up now, well they all had,maybe a bit too fast but they did.

Alex picked up the blanket and drooped it over Lucas

"Brothers to Infinity and Beyond" Alex whispered

As he was about to leave he saw a picture on Lucas' desk. It looked brand new and it was a photo of them both playing Atari and Alex was trying to snatch the controller off Lucas

A smile appeared on his face as he picked up the picture

"Alex? am I dreaming again?" Lucas questioned slightly afraid as he rubbed his eyes

Alex jumped and turned around in shock

"No Lucas your not dreaming it's me. I'm here"

Lucas just stood still

Silence engulfed the room

"That's- that's a lie! My brother is dead!" Lucas shouted looking quite angry

"Lucas shut up it's me, your going to wake up your whole family if you don't lower your voice" Alex whispered

"This shit ain't funny, people don't make fun of dead people and I don't know who you think you are messing around like this" Lucas whisper yelled

Grabbing a bat from his room and holding it to Alex

"Lucas I swear it's me, look uhh when we were 12. you, me and Dustin yeah? We all had-had a crush on Max. When- when I had nowhere to stay you took me in. I told you that I was in Love with Max 2 hours before I left startcourt mall that day. It's me Lucas. Me and you. Us two against the world right" Alex spoke his voice breaking

Lucas just stood there tears pouring down his face

He dropped the bat and ran towards Alex hugging his tightly

"It's me man" Alex said, his voice cracking even more

"Brothers for infinity" Lucas started

"And beyond" Alex finished with a laugh

"You have no idea how much i missed you man, how much we all missed you. A lot has happened since you've left

"Well then, how about you catch me up" Alex told him patting his back and moving to his old sleeping bag

"By the way when did you grow beard, you got your whole thing going on" Lucas asked him

"Yeah yeah very funny" Alex said

"Nah nah I'm serious like, I've been tryna grown one myself you know" Lucas teased

Alex just punched his shoulder lightly laughing at his jokes

"Nah but seriously where have you been?" Lucas asked a worried look on his face

"Last time I saw you, you were with Hopper-"

"I'll tell you later" Alex said cutting off the Lucas

"Well for one I'm glad your back" Lucas said laying back in his bed

"Yeah I am too." Alex whispered laying in his sleeping bag

'I just hope max is too' he thought

'Best friend' is a check

'Party' is a maybe

'Girlfriend' is an inconclusive...
