Chapter 12

Miyako's reaction was silently looking at the ground. She clearly didn't want to be in a closet with me. Even though I don't want anyone to know I actually really wanted to be in a closet with her. Too bad I can't do anything with her.

"Come on let's get this over and done with," I told her trying to seem annoyed. I walked into the closet and Miyako followed me and closed the door behind us.

It was cramped inside and pitch black. I made my eyes glow softly. The light bounced off her beautiful pale face. She looked really scared though. It was adorable and it made me blush. Luckily she probably couldn't see that.

"So what do we do now?" I asked her.

"Please don't hurt me..." She whispered.

"I won't," I assured her.

"I won't hurt you either."

"I'm sorry if my eyes are hurting you."

"It's fine," she added "They're actually helping me because I'm afraid of the dark..."

"I don't really like the dark too much either," I replied truthfully.

She hugged my arm tightly, which made me blush even more. Why have you got to be so cute Miyako.

"I really hate it...." She whispered.

"Don't worry," I told her "The scariest thing in here is me."

I hugged her back trying to be comforting to her. She clung to me tightly, obviously still scared. I made my eyes become brighter to try and light up the closet. I had to watch out though I didn't want to burn her.

"Does that help?"

She nodded "thank you."

I don't know if it was just a trick of the light or my terrible eyesight but she looked like she was blushing. Does this mean she likes me? I blushed even more, then swore at myself. There is no point getting excited about it. Nothing can happen between us.

"You're welcome," I told her.

"..... I thought you didn't like vampires too close to you or touching you," she whispered.

"I don't," I replied coldly. It's true for most vampires.

"Then why are you hugging me now?" She asked.

Damn it she has a point.

"Because you are Koneko's daughter and you are scared," I told her. It wasn't completely a lie but it wasn't the only reason, that's for sure.

She looked away almost sadly "I see."

"Koneko is one of my closest friends and she has helped me so much," I explained trying to give her a believable reason.

"So you've told me,"

"If you are her daughter then I have to help you when you need it."

"......I appreciate it," she whispered sounding slightly disappointed, she still wasn't looking at me. It could have just been my eyes.

"I'll warn you now, do not touch my bare skin, it will burn you," I told her.

She quickly let go of me and moved away. I was kind of sad but I couldn't let her get burned so... this is for the best.

"It's ok if you touch me through fabric but not just my bare skin, you'll be in pain for a while," I told her.

She remained silent.
