Vee was glad that they were atleast moving some place far away from her parents. The apartment was about a 45 minutes drive from her parents' house. It was a light blue three storey building and looked pretty sophisticated. She didn't want to admit it but Leon had good taste.

She got down from the truck and marveled at the sight. It was a pretty busy street. The little stores around, teenagers skateboarding, people chattering. It was nice.

"Wow this is a really nice neighborhood" Frank said and Vee nodded in approval.

"Thanks a lot Frank" Leon said and started to bring Vee's stuff from the truck.

"Let me help you get settled in" Frank offered.

"No it's fine. The apartment is just on the first floor. We can handle it" Leon refused.

Vee didn't try to interject. Knowing her dad, the one thing her mum had taught him was never to take 'no' as an answer. She knew he would refuse and still follow them to see the apartment. But surprisingly he just helped Leon bring her boxes out, kiss her goodbye and then he was gone.

She stared at the truck as it disappeared down the street and shook her head. What a dad.

"Do you mind helping me carry your stuff inside?" Leon asked.

"I didn't ask you to send my dad away" she said as she picked one of the boxes and followed him.

"Why are you so upset?"

"I'm not upset. You're upset"

She sounded like a child.

They got to the apartment door and Leon put the key in.

Inside was even more than Vee expected. The spacious living room was already fully furnished. It had a TV and everything.

"When did you get to do all this?" She asked and dropped her box, her anger quickly flying out the door as she looked around.

The couches were grey and looked brand new. They even had a recliner and a small fire place. She couldn't wait to see the rest of the apartment.

"I call dibs on the biggest room!" She yelled and ran into the apartment. She didn't even know where she was going.

Vee walked to the only two bedrooms in the house. There were just separated by the bathroom. She picked the one with the larger windows.

She marveled at the hugeness of the room. The queen-sized bed, spacious closet and huge drawers. She walked around, getting familiar to the big apartment. She wondered how much it would cost her and how much Leon had paid already for all the furnishing.

When she was done, Leon was already back with all his boxes and hers. He had even managed to bring in her vanity table and he looked worn out as he panted.

"Do you know how hard it was to get this up here? Why did you bring it, we could have gotten you a new one" he said already glaring at her.

"Excuse you but we don't have money for a new one"

"How come you get the biggest room?"
