"All of the charges have been acquitted against the Morino family sir. The Senator, not so lucky, seven years for cocaine possession and 15 years for 1st degree manslaughter. "

"When?" I question not bothering to even look at Rico, one of my many many soldiers.

"The trial ended ten minutes ago and we were informed then." The only response given is a nod of my head and Rico knows he's dismissed. One of the many things I appreciate about the man amongst his loyalty is that he always knows when to shut the fuck up. It's not as common of a quality as it used to be, believe it or not.

The news that the Morino's have been acquitted of all of their charges is relieving. The head family of the Italian Mafia, the Morino's, club Sicily somehow became wrapped up in a murder case that put their business under scrutiny. Typically I don't concern myself with such matters. I'm a busy man with other duties, meaning my shit ton of other responsibilities trump whatever petty idiotic bullshit the Morino's find themselves in. Only this isn't petty, just a whole bunch of bullshit. Ignoring it wasn't an option either, the case made national news. If I did, who knows how this whole thing would have played itself out? Business across the board ceased. Product was piling up to a stall, not to mention profit was going to absolute shit. Labs were backed up and overstocked, wasting away. Clients were getting antsy which never made good for business even with loyal customers. Everyone's money was affected. That's one of the two things I never play about. Interference was imperative.

I can feel an onslaught of a headache forming simply thinking about how much money I lost out on between the cost of labs, transportation, and employees. All because of the lovely little break the club was forced to take. Of course I made sure I got back something from the whole ordeal taxing the Morino seven percent on product for the next six months. Let's call it a tariff. Better yet a don't fuck up tax. They could afford it.

New York has no shortage of drug users, or suppliers. A story about a club with those particular activities is nowhere near shocking. Honestly the story wouldn't have ever even gained coverage as the Morino's keep a low profile and aren't even listed as the owners of the Club. At most it would have been a measly news article that people ignored. Back deals could have been made so it never even made it to a Judge's lap. It all could have been simple. Easy, yet one of our fearless leaders just had to complicate it with his involvement. That damn Senator Colin Whick sniffing white lines there at least three times a week and pining after the employees. White men on coke with money, who didn't see it coming?

One employee in particular he murdered only after getting her pregnant. Surely wifey wouldn't have liked that. Desperation, I'm sure that's the only reason that innocent woman lost her life. If he wasn't necessary to closing this case I'm sure the Morino's would have had him killed for touching one of their employees. There's a set of responsibility for the people that work under leaders like us. No one gets to touch the things, people, or places that are ours.

Most men in his circle deemed themselves untouchable; the chump change they think of as wealth holds no meaning once the media sniffed out their cazzate. I, for one, am glad they locked him away in a cell. He was declassing the establishment anyways. Which is a lesson for all of those entities that frequent establishments such as Club Sicily. Keep your shit intact. None of the families or the organizations we're associated with need any unnecessary attention from law enforcement or the public. That's something that no one in the underworld wants nor needs, seeing as then we have to deal with the repercussions.

I shake my head with a low laugh coming from my lips. All I know is the Morino's should count themselves very lucky they don't find themselves on my shit list. Others have been for much much less. Cruelty knows no bounds, especially from me. The limits I am willing to go to prove my point don't even exist. Fortunately for them they make great profits, return on investments, and are generally likable, most importantly they're loyal. Which is the reason why I have invested much and given the Morino's relatively anything they have asked for. They're an investment that has gone very far, and have much further to go.
