Kokichis pov
I stared at the door that would release us from our prison. I was happy but nervous. What if the world had changed again? What if I lost someone again. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm afraid to leave this place.
"hey kokichi" I was pulled out of my thoughts by kaitos voice "you better not be having second thoughts. A hero has to look forward no matter what. So no backing down ok? It's you and me till death do we part!"
"kai-chan that sounds like a marriage proposal" I shook my head.
"wha-" kaitos face turned bright red "I didn't- I'm not gay damnit!"
I burst out laughing "hahaha thanks kaito" I said through happy tears "I actually feel better now"
"no problem sidekick" he gave me a thumbs up. I felt my face heat up. Kaito is.. really something else.
"ok everyone I'm going to open the door" shuichi stated. We all nodded and took each others hands. Whatever out there we'll face it together.
The door slowly opened, blinding us with a bright light. We slowly adjusted ourselves to the light and once we did..
"mom! Dad!" the others ran out and hugged their parents, happy tears running down their cheeks. I looked around anxiously. Please be here. Please be here-
My eyes finally landed on them. Kyoko, mokoto and komaru. They're all here.
"you're ok!" I ran up and hugged them.
"that's what we should be saying!" komaru hugged me tightly.
"thank goodness you're ok" mokoto muttered softly.
"we're going to keep you safe from now on kokichi" kyoko petted my hair "I promise"
I stayed huddled between them, feeling safe for the first time in weeks.
