Preparations

"Paul, I promise I'll sit back and watch." I pleaded with my boyfriend. "Bella's going to be there. I'm the safest I could possibly be with the pack. Don't leave me on the reservation by myself."

"Fine." Paul sighed. "Fine, you can come. But, I don't want you to leave my side. Jake might trust them, but I certainly don't trust the Cullens."

"You're the best!" I grinned, throwing my arms around his neck.

"Come on." Paul rolled his eyes, leaning down to press a kiss to my forehead. "We'll be late if we don't leave now."

I walked alongside the wolves as we made our way to where the Cullens were learning from Jasper. As the wolves walked out of the treeline, I stayed close to Paul and Leah, offering my twin a slight smile as a greeting.

"They don't trust us enough to be in their human forms." Edward translated.

"They came, that's what matters." Carlisle said, taking a step forward. "Will you translate?"

"Hey, Jake." Bella greeted Jake in wolf form. Sam growled lowly, bringing Jake's attention back to the approaching Dr. Cullen.

"Welcome." Carlisle said, looking each wolf and myself in the eye. "Jasper has experience with newborns. He'll teach us how to defeat them."

"They want to know how the newborns differ from us." Edward translated Sam's thoughts.

"They're a great deal stronger than us because their own human blood still lingers in their tissues." Carlisle informed. "Our kind is never more physically powerful than in our first several months of this life."

Carlisle nodded at Jasper and returned to Esme's side, watching as his son took his spot.

"Carlisle's right." Jasper agreed. "That's why they are created. A newborn army doesn't need thousands like a human army, but no human army could stand against them. Now, the two most important things to remember are, first, never let them get their arms around you. They'll crush you instantly. And second, never go for the obvious kill. They'll be expecting that. And you will lose. Emmett!"

I watched as the Cullen's trained with one another with intrigue. I mean, it's not everyday that you get to witness vampires fighting one another. Even though some of their moves were blindingly fast, I was still able to keep up with them.

When it was time to go, both Leah and Paul nudged me away from the Cullens. Once we were far enough away from the Cullens, Paul shifted back to his human self to walk with me.

"Come on." Paul snickered, pulling me under his arm. "You look hungry, and Em's got food waiting."

"Do you think I can do anything to help?" I asked.

"No." Paul shook his head. "You and the rest of the imprints will be safe on the reservation. None of us want you anywhere near the battlefield when they attack."

"Okay." I nodded. "But, if you think of some way for me to be of help, you'll let me know?"

"I'll let you know." Paul nodded.

"Get up." Jacob huffed, throwing a pillow down onto my face. I sat up in bed and glared at my best friend, fixing my hair as I did so. "We have somewhere to go."

"Where?" I mumbled, dragging myself out of bed.

"Jasper thinks that my scent will mask yours and Bella's scent." Jake shrugged, throwing me a hoodie from my closet. "Paul and I are going to test the theory."
