Calum: There hadn't been anyone to blame for the divorce. You had a kid together, you were supposed to be happy and in the love bubble like everyone had said you would be, overjoyed at the fact that you had created a living, breathing being together. But it just wasn't there. With Calum away so much, you felt like you had been raising a child on your own, the stress and pressure of it all weighing you down, and you and Calum just, grew apart. There were too many fights and not enough 'I love you's. And it just happened. You sat down and agreed that you weren't happy being married anymore. It happens sometimes.

But now you were trying to make sure that Calum was still in his son's life. He may not be your husband anymore, but he was still your child's father and you wanted to make sure that was known.

You were walking into the studio, your one year old, Jaxon, in your arms, his head on your shoulder. You were well aware of the cameras clicking on you, as you and Calum's story was a well known one, but you ignored it, clutching Jaxon tighter to your chest.

"It's alright Jax," you muttered in his ear, placing a kiss on his curly black hair as he started to fuss a little. You entered the quiet safety of the building and climbed your way up the stairs to the familiar studio the boys most commonly worked in. Jax was beginning to fuss and you jounced him.

"It's alright sweetie, you'll see Daddy soon," you continued to try and soothe him as you  reached out and pulled the door open, being greeted by a sea of noise as Luke, Michael and Ashton goofed off. "(Y/N)!" You heard in a chorus of voices and you smiled, even hearing Jax give a squealing giggle at the sight of his three uncles.

"You brought Jax! My favorite kid!"Michael cheered, reaching his arms out to take Jax from you as you juggled your son and his diaper bag.

"Calum's in recording, he'll be out in a minute," Luke informed you, watching Michael with a smile as Mike tossed Jax up in the air and then blew on his belly, making him explode into a fit of giggles.

"Please be careful with my son Mikey," Calum scolded, entering the room and heading immediately towards Jax, his arms reaching out to take his son.

"Dada," Jax said, his head on Michael's shoulder. The room quieted in shock.

"What did he say?" You asked, shocked because Jax hasn't even said mama yet and you saw him way more frequently.

"Dada," Jax repeated, his chubby fingers wrapping around Michael's Iron Maiden shirt.

"Those were his first words," you said, staring at your son with an enormous smile.

"That's right Jax, that's your daddy," Michael chuckled, pointing a finger to Calum who was grinning like crazy at his son. Calum reached out for him but Jax began to cry, burying his face in Michael's shirt and continually saying "dada" to Michael. Calum's face fell.

"Oh no! No, buddy I'm not your dad," Michael said quickly, clearly panicking as he tried to pull Jaxon's fingers off his shirt but that just made Jaxon cry harder and you visibly saw Michael, Luke and Ashton flinch at the wailing. You waited for a moment to see if Calum would take Jaxon but he didn't and turned his back to you and your son. You sighed before conceding and reaching out for the sobbing boy. Jax willingly went to your arms and settled slightly as you began jouncing, the other boys clearing out awkwardly once they all caught a glimpse of Calum's expression.

"Calum-" you started once the room was quiet, but he cut you off, sitting with his head in his hands.

"He doesn't know who I am (Y/N)," Calum said, clearly upset.

"Yes he does Calum. He's just a baby! And he sees the other boys all the time too. But I promise you he recognizes you. He knows you're his dad," you said, trying to comfort both Calum and Jaxon at the same time. Calum looked up at you and, after watching you struggle with his son for a moment, stood and took Jaxon from your arms, the little boy calming down slightly as he buried his head in Calum's shoulder. Calum jounced him, placing a gentle kiss on the black hair that was clearly inherited from Cal.
