When Wei Wuxian told Lan Xichen he has nightmares, he was not joking. Lan Xichen woke to Wuxian crying in his sleep, and he was hard to wake from his sleep once he was in the middle of his terrors. Lan Xichen took out his Xiao, Liebing, and played a gentle tune for him. It calmed Wuxian down immensely. Lan Xichen then fixed Wuxian's blanket and tucked him in carefully before going back to bed.

Just spending that little bit of time with Wuxian, Lan Xichen understood why Yanli wanted him to spend some time with Wuxian. He needed someone like Xichen to talk to. He did have Jiang Cheng, but Lan Xichen felt that Jiang Cheng may not understand the situation well enough to know exactly what to do.

Wuxian woke up half an hour before morning bell and began to meditate. He does better with his meditation these days then he has in the past. When Lan Xichen woke up during his normal hours he dressed and went to go check Wei Wuxian. He smiled when he saw that he was meditating.

"Wuxian?" Xichen asked quietly.

Wei Wuxian slowly opened his eyes to saw Lan Xichen standing beside him, "good morning, Zewu Jun."

"Good morning, it is okay for you to head back to your room to change if you want," he told him.

"Oh, thank you," Wuxian said standing.

"How long have you been up?" Xichen asked.

"Half an hour," Wuxian said, "I thought instead of going back to sleep I'd just meditate for a while."

"Oh," Xichen said walking him to the door, "remember if you need anything, come find me. Even find my brother if you need to."

"Thank you for talking with me," Wuxian said.

"You're welcome, I will see you at the ceremony," Xichen said.

"Mnn," Wuxian nodded and went on his way.

Lan Xichen suddenly felt grateful that he saw Wei Wuxian's past. He felt grateful that he knew everything that he went through. Knowing that Yanli wanted him to help her protect him, he was determined to do so.

It was later in the day, and the greeting ceremony when by peacefully, and Xichen went out to greet the Wens who were patiently waiting but were also angry that they couldn't get past the wards.

"Young master Wen," Xichen said, "I apologize for the ward, but we don't accept uninvited guests and visitors so easily. So please for give us for the wait."

"I'm just here to drop of some people," Wen Chao said as Wen Qing and Wen Ning stepped forward.

"Hello Zewu Jun, we apologize for coming unannounced but we are hear for the indoctrination," Wen Qing said with a bow.

Lan Xichen had no grudges with Wen Qing and Wen Ning. They helped Wuxian and were innocent. They were threatened by Wen Ruohan. Lan Xichen was going to try to help them, and his uncle knew of their history. Lan Xichen let in Wen Ning and Wen Qing but he told Wen Chao to leave, and so he did. That was when Xichen had to find that owl and get rid of it. He didn't want to do it right away but he will.

After getting Wen Ning and Wen Qing situated, Lan Xichen went to go see his brother. Lan Wangji was actually hidden away in his home, The Jingshi.

"Wangji?" Xichen called as he entered.

"Huan-Ge," Wangji greeted and had him sit down.

"I came to chat with you for a bit," Xichen said.

"What about?" Wangji asked.

"What do you think about Wei Wuxian?" He asked.

Wangji sighed, "he is hard to figure out."

"You remember what I told you about him right?" Xichen asked, "how even though he has no memory of it, he had a life already and he is going through this all again...he struggled more than anyone but you were the only one who could get close enough to talk with him properly."

"Is he important to me?" Wangji asked, "my heart feels heavy when I am next to him...I don't know this feeling."

Lan Xichen smiled on the inside. Wuxian had that same feeling when he was next to Wangji, "Wangji, you feel something for him. There is no shame in liking the same gender. And there is no shame in trying to make friends," he said, "Wuxian needs people around him. He doesn't say it but he has things haunting him."

"What do you mean?" Wangji asked.

"I found him last night outside close to curfew so I had him stay at my place. He had a nightmare last night and he even told me he has them often. He doesn't when he has his dog Jasmine with him," Xichen said.

"Do you want to talk with Shufu, ask him if he can have Jasmine here? If I have to, he can stay at my place so the dog won't interfere with others," Wangji suggested.

"You want Wuxian and his dog with you?" Xichen asked.

Wangji nodded, "if it helps him get more comfortable here, he is to be here for six months. Can he handle it without the dog for that long?" Wangji asked.

"Well, I will speak with Shufu and see what he says, though I do not think he's accept it," Xichen said.

"You are the sect leader, your saying should be above his," Wangji said.

Lan Xichen chuckled, "is that so?"

"Yes," Wangji said.

"I will think on it," Xichen said, "can you keep an eye on Wei Wuxian?"

"Mnn," Wangji nodded.

"Thank you," Xichen said.
