It seems like nothing happened between Greggy and Irene when they came back the country. Greggy and Anne settled with their problem. Parang walang nangyari sa kanila. They chose to forget that one-time thing.
Irene will be leaving today for Tarlac. May one-week outreach program ang kumpanya nila doon, and she needs to be there. Nakausap na niya si Vida tungkol dito, and her daughter was perfectly fine about it as long as she'll come back.
Vida will be graduating junior high school in the next two weeks. She'll be transferring to International School Manila after DLS Zobel for her senior high.
Ihahatid lang ni Irene si Vida sa bahay ni Greggy and she'll straightly travel to Tarlac.
"Mommy, let's go na?" sabi ni Vida habang nakadungaw sa pintuan ng kwarto ng ina.
"Yes, mauna ka na sa sasakyan." Irene replied at kinuha ang lahat ng kailangan niyang dalhin.
She followed her daughter afterwards at tumulak na sila papunta sa bahay ni Greggy. Dumaan muna sila sa gasolinahan para magpa-full tank at para bilhan si Vida ng ice cream.
They went to Greggy's place after. Mabuti na lang at walang traffic kaya mabilis silang nakarating sa bahay ni Greggy. Her plan was just really dropping Vida in front of Greggy's house at hindi na makipag-usap kay Greggy. But unfortunately, nasa labas ito ng gate, naghihintay sa kanila.
Bumaba na si Vida at nakita ni Irene na binati nito ang ama. She sighed and went outside of the car.
"Hey," kaswal na bati ni Greggy sa kanya. Tumango lang siya.
Lumapit si Vida kay Irene para humalik at yumakap. "Take care there, Mommy okay? Text me please and come back as soon as possible! My graduation is fast approaching,'
"Of course, I'll always come back for you, Mi Vida." she smiled at her daughter as she kissed her goodbye. "I want you to be good and stay close to your Dad okay? Update me every time! I love you, Mi Vida."
"I love you more, Mommy. Please come back to me safely," Irene nodded and hugged her daughter tightly. Kinuha ni Vida ang hairpins na galing sa buhok niya, she gave two pieces of that to her Mom.
"What's this for, baby?" nagtatakang tanong ni Irene.
"Para you carry me with you anywhere, Mommy." she chuckled.
"Alright, clever girl!" she tweaked Vida's nose. "Thank you for this, my baby love. Get inside na, umiinit na. I love you, my baby!"
Nagpaalam na ito na papasok na dahil maghuhugas pa siya ng kamay dahil sa
lagkit sa kinain na ice cream.
"Take care of Vida. Una na ako," Irene plainly told Greggy. There was big distance between them, ni isa sa kanila ayaw lumapit.
"Yes, I will. And... mag-iingat ka rin." malamig na sabi ni Greggy. Irene did not bother to smile and walked towards her car door, but Greggy ran to her and held her wrist.
Nilingon si ni Irene. "I... I just want to say sorry." saad ni Greggy.
Binawi ni Irene ang pulsuhan. "About what?"
"About the... thing that happened to us," he said.
Napalunok si Irene at umiwas ng tingin. She forced herself to smile and looked at him in the eye. "Oh, that. That was just a one time thing right? Wag kang mag-alala, kakalimutan ko 'yun. Maayos na kayo 'di ba?" Irene said referring to Greggy and Anne. Mabagal na tumango si Greggy.
Tumikhim si Irene. "Mabuti 'yan. Pagpatuloy niyo 'yan, aalis na ako. Please take care of my daughter." Irene forced her smile once again.
"I hope you don't get my point wrong..." sambit ni Greggy.
