I took a sip of my tea to keep my thoughts to myself, wanting to ask Horus for answers about his predictions, but I didn't, no matter how bad I wanted to.

Because I knew that he wasn't going to answer them. I knew that he would let me stew in silence until the last possible second and then turn around and say that was the plan all along when I did something on my own.

Horus looked amused while I glowered and didn't respond to it. He took a sip of his tea and cleared his throat while he grew serious. "So, have you figured out why you can't let go of the cup, Alpha?" he asked and raised an eyebrow while he turned his attention to Levi and changed the subject. "Have you... noticed anything... "odd?""

I rolled my eyes and scowled but didn't say a word while Levi frowned and cocked his head.

"What... do you mean?" he asked slowly as if he hadn't understood what Horus was saying. He looked at me when Horus smiled and shook his head without an answer and frowned, annoyed that the other male didn't answer him. "Do you know what he is talking about?" he asked, and I nodded but stayed silent. "Then... what is he talking about?" he asked while he cocked his head further and studied me, waiting for me to answer him.

I didn't respond and turned until I was facing him, the tea cup clenched in my grasp. My heart pounded softly in my chest, and I couldn't help but wonder what he would think and prayed that he wouldn't be too freaked out about what I showed him.

My "mate" stayed silent and watched me lift the cup to my lips, and he followed suit. Still, he didn't seem to get it, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scoff.

I took the cup from my lips and looked at him through narrowed eyes. "Goddess," I said in a tone that had Horus covering a laugh with a cough. I glanced at him before I looked at my mate and frowned. "Don't you pay attention?"

Levi pressed his lips into a thin line and scowled. He narrowed his eyes but didn't respond while he studied me, waiting for me to say something or give him a clear answer to what Horus was talking about.

I scowled and narrowed my eyes further while I studied the male before me. "Watch." Again, I took a sip of my drink, and again, he followed suit and took another sip.

Slowly, realization dawned in his eyes while he looked at me when I pulled the cup away from my lips, and he did too. He didn't say a word, however, but he took a sip of his drink, and I followed his lead.

I stayed silent while I waited for him to process that I was drinking at the same time that he was, my heart beating faster and faster in my chest because I was nervous about how he would react to it.

"Why do I drink when you drink?" he asked. "And why do you drink when I drink?"

I shrugged. "It's because we are connected and whatnot," I replied. "I think the cup shows the bond between us and gives an indication to the person who has us doing it that we are meant to be with each other, even though as you put it, he hasn't accepted the rejection."

Levi didn't say a word and scowled. He looked at Horus in question, and Horus nodded.

"I can also read the tea leaves between the two of you," he said. He gestured towards me, and Levi looked at me before he looked at him. "Hwei-ru has already checked to see what it says, but I am sure that she has missed a few things."

I held back an eye roll and scowled. "If she has missed a few things, then it is because she wasn't able to read it or it is because you made it so that she wouldn't be able to read it."

Horus smiled and tried not to look smug, but it didn't work. "Now, why would I do that?" he asked and raised an eyebrow. "She's your grandmother."

I kept my mouth shut and raised an eyebrow. I had a feeling that he had done something because these were his cups. I knew that he had made them, especially since his mark was on the bottom of them.

Horus chuckled and slowly nodded. "I might have done something so that she wouldn't be able to read the whole thing at one time," he admitted. "However, in time, she will learn what they say."

I rolled my eyes and scowled. "She is going to smack you," I warned, and he chuckled and nodded in agreement, "or threaten you with a spoon."

"Hmph," Horus said and brushed off my warning. "Now, please," he said, "go ahead and finish drinking what is left in your cups. After that, we shall see what the future holds for the two of you. Shall we?"

I rolled my eyes again and stayed silent while I drank my tea, and Levi couldn't help but do what I did.

And with that, we finished the rest of the tea in silence, and I prayed that Horus wouldn't hide what he saw from us when we were done.

But a small part of me knew that he would...

He had to, for if not, then someone would get mad at him. He didn't want to; I could tell, but whoever had that power, told him that warning, had told him not to do it or else.

Or else what? I didn't know, and I didn't want to find out, not yet at least.

Whoever made that demand was powerful, silently watching over me and my surroundings, making sure that I stayed in line and not only me but those surrounding me.

They wanted to make sure that I was protected, in the dark about all things that dealt with this, even though being in the dark was just as bad as knowing, in my opinion.

They wanted to make sure that no one said a word until they said it was time, so those that knew this person did what they wanted them to do, even though a part of them knew that it would be in my best interest if I knew what was happening.

What information did they not want me to find? Why were they controlling the people around me, making it so that they would not give me the information that I needed?

These questions appeared in my mind while I slowly finished my cup of tea, a scowl on my face while I stared at Horus.

I knew that he couldn't answer my questions, not without the person knowing and doing something else to me like making it harder for me to remember what I found out already.

He didn't want that to happen nor for me to get into trouble with the person, even though he knew that he couldn't protect me from that.

He couldn't protect me from the person because the person was already close by, even though I couldn't see them nor sense them.

They were there, watching and waiting, biding their time until they could show me who they were and tell me what they wanted from me.

So, the question was: who was the person, and what did they want from me?
