I laid on Billy's chest while he ran his fingers through my damp hair

Me and Billy just got back from surfing and Neil burst through the door

I was half asleep and I get scared at big noises so I jumped and yelped

"Don't yell in my house, whore!" I felt bad because I knew exactly the way Neil is and I know that there's been many times Billy has gotten beaten over our relationship

"Sorry." Neil scoffed and looked around a while before leaving the room

"Hey, angel I think maybe you should go home for the night and I'll see you tomorrow." I nodded my head even though I didn't want to leave because I knew what Neil is gonna do to Billy as soon as I leave

"Okay, see you tomorrow." I gave Billy a kiss on the cheek before grabbing my jacket and leaving

I got in my car and immediately started crying, I don't want Billy to go through this stuff but he does and he doesn't want cops involved so it just happens

I went home and cried for the rest of the night because I felt horrible

I drove over to Billy's house the next day and when I walked into Billy's room he was putting things in boxes

"Whatcha doing?" Billy turned to me and smiled by this smile quickly faded

"Um, (Y/n) we need to talk." I raised my eyebrows because Billy was really worrying me

"Okay, what's going on?" I sat on Billy's bed and he sat down next to me

"We're moving and my dad is making me come with." I started crying immediately because I knew I'd miss him with all my heart

"Where are you going?" Billy sighed and rested his face in his palms

"Hawkins, Indiana. He wants us to be out of here tomorrow morning." I shook my head and paced the room

"Indiana? That's far. Will I ever see you again." Billy gave me a smile and nodded his head

"Of course, Angel goodbyes aren't a forever thing. I plan on coming back after graduation and when I get the money to come back." I hugged him tightly never daring to let go

"I love you, Billy" Billy rubbed my back and kissed my cheek softly

"Love you too, princess." Billy leaned over the bed and picked up a few things off of his desk

"Here, I want you to have my hoodie, shirt, cologne, cigarettes, and one of my lighters." I looked down at the stuff and cried harder

"I wish you came with all this stuff." Billy kissed the top of my head and rested his chin on my shoulder

"I wish I could stay here with you but I have to go." I remembered my necklace so I quickly took it off

"Here have my Virgin Mary necklace." Billy put on the necklace and it looked like it was made for his neck

"My life's gonna suck without you around." I smiled at Billy's comment and I nodded my head

"Me too, Billy. Me too." I stayed with Billy from that moment to the moment he had to leave

"Promise you'll come back some day, for me." Billy nodded his head and put his hand behind my neck

"I promise, I love you, (Y/n)." I let go of the hug just so I could hug him tightly again

"I love you too, Billy." Me and Billy gave each other one last hug and kiss before he got in his car and drove off

~time skip~
July 5th 1985

It's been almost a year but I know Billy's graduated because I've called him every night, this last week though he hasn't been answering my calls and I'm expecting to find out he met someone new, better, prettier, and not a crybaby

My phone started ringing so I immediately picked up the phone and put it to my ear

"This is (Y/n) (Y/l/n)." I heard a sigh on the other side of the line and I could tell it was a female

"Hey, (Y/n) This is Max. I don't know if you remember me but I'm Billy's Step sister." I nodded my head even though I knew she couldn't see me

"I know you and Billy were close so I thought it'd be right if you knew. Billy is gone, he's dead." I stood there with the phone at my ear but for not much longer

I put the phone back on the receiver and reached out for a chair

I finally got myself sat down and I started having a panic attack

The fact I was wearing his shirt isn't helping either

I sat and cried and all I could think is that he broke his promise, maybe it was on purpose and maybe it wasn't but all I know is he's never coming back like he said

I grabbed my car keys and didn't care that I just woke up, my hairs a mess, and I'm wearing sweatpants and the shirt Billy gave me

I got in the car and I know this is last minute but if my math is correct if I leave now I'll make it to Hawkins in three day's probably sooner if it wasn't for bathroom breaks, gas refills, and getting food

I drove and drove but eventually I got to the sign "Welcome to Hawkins"

I found a pay phone, and put a quarter in it so I could call Max

"Hello?" I sighed and tried to not start crying. Every time I stopped driving I started crying

"Hey, it's (Y/n) I have a question. Have you guys buried him yet?" I heard the phone shuffling

"Yeah, yesterday. Neil said he didn't want to deal with his body and to get it done as fast as possible." I already knew Neil was a shit dad but he's just pure mean

"Okay, where at?" Max sighed into the phone and I could hear faint arguments in the background

"Hawkins Cemetery." I put the phone back where it was and ran out to my car

I didn't know where I was going but I knew I'd find it eventually

I found and as soon as I did I began running around trying to find Billy's grave

I turned my head and there it was "William Hargrove" I walked over to it and smirked a little because I knew Billy would hate his headstone says William

I walked up to it and sat crisscross in front of it trying not to cry

"Hey, Billy I missed you." I put a little kiss on the headstone before pressing my forehead against it

"I thought you said goodbyes weren't forever." I leaned my head against the headstone and cried harder than ever
