Despite the four year age gap between me and Max, when Dustin introduced us we immediately connected and became best friends, I believe it's because she had no other females in her life other than her mother

"(Y/n), be honest with me, are going to the pool to hang out or so you can flirt with my brother?" I parked my car and looked around and I didn't see Billy anywhere but I did see his car in the parking lot

"Both, why can't I hang with my number one best friend and flirt with her obnoxiously sexy brother at the same time?" She shook her head at me with a look of disgust on her face

"God, what is all the craziness over my brother, he's gross, I once saw him spray cologne down his pants, and I've seen him read porn magazines, he jerks off all the time." I smiled thinking about Billy alone in his room looking at a sex magazine with his hand down his boxers

"Thanks Max, you just made me love him more than I did before." She rolled her eyes and we both got out of the car and went in the entrance of the pool

When we got through the entrance of the pool I saw him leaned against the brick wall looking like he's smoking before his shift

"Hey Max, there's two chairs over there." We started to walk towards the chairs but Billy noticed us

"Hey, shitbird!" Max groaned and rolled her eyes before turning towards Billy

"What?" Billy flicked his cigarette in a random direction before walking up to us

"Why are you here? You know Dad and Susan don't want you in the sun cause you burn easily." Max looked between me and Billy and it caused him to look up at me

"(Y/n) wanted to hang out, plus she knows I burn so she got sunscreen for us, it's fine." We started to walk again but Billy stepped in our way

"If you get burned like you did that one time in California, and I get in trouble for it, I'll kick your ass." He stepped out of the way and we both walked out and got the chairs just in time before anyone stole them

"He's such an asshole I don't know why you like him." Me and Max sat our bags on the ground and I looked back over at Billy who was eyeing us

"It seemed like he was just looking out for you, believe it or not I talk to Dustin the same way, I just do it in more of a making fun of him way." Max chuckled at me and I handed her the sunscreen

"Yeah, you may be right, I mean he's not wrong if they found out I was here and Billy didn't tell me to put on sunscreen then he'd be in big trouble." I pulled out tanning oil and it was my favorite because it smelled like strawberries

"Oh, please tell me that you aren't gonna try and seduce him with tanning oil." I nodded my head and Max through her head back and groaned loudly

"You're just as gross as he is." I laughed at her and after I put on the tanning oil I leaned back in my chair and tried to tan

"Hey, (Y/n) I'm thirsty." I took off my sunglasses and put them on top of my head while looking at Max

"Yeah, I am too, can you get in my bag and get me two quarters." She nodded and reached in my bag then handed me the quarters

I walked over to the vending machine and put one quarter in and pressed coke then I put in the other quarter and got another coke

"Hey, (Y/n) right?" I looked up and nearly dropped the cans in my hand when I saw Billy standing next to me

"Yeah, can I help you?" Billy placed one hand on the vending machine and looked down at me with a smirk on his face

"Just wondering, you and max hang out a lot don't you?" I nodded my head and it felt like my heart was going 300 beats per minute "What's that smell? It smells like strawberries."

"It's probably my tanning oil, it's strawberry scented." Billy slowly licked his bottom lip and never stopped looking down at me

"Smells sexy." I felt like I was going to pass out I know he's talking about the tanning oil but he said I smell sexy

"Hey, do you guys have straws? I could really use a straw with these cokes." Billy nodded his head then he stopped leaning on the vending machine and stood up straight

"Follow me." I followed him into the break room and when I looked over at max she rolled her eyes at me and I winked at her

"You got a preference?" I looked up at Billy with confusion and it caused him to laugh "Color, you got a preference of color? When I use straws I don't know why but I always choose a straw the color red."

"Really?! Me too! Everyone I tell that says that it's weird, but red bendy straws, they just hit different." Billy smiled while he grabbed the bag of straws off the top of the fridge in the break room and pulled out two red bendy straws

"You're cute, we should hang out sometime, just me and you, not Max." I looked up at Billy while swallowing the lump in my throat because I was nervous to ask this make or break question

"Like a date?" Billy smiled while nodding his head at me never removing his beautiful eyes from my eyes

"Yeah, like a date." I turned around and we both walked out of the break room and back out to where everyone else is

"Well I better get back Max will think we eloped to Mexico." Billy laughed at me and nodded his head

"I got to get back to work anyway, I'll talk you sometime about that date." He walked away and walked over to one of the lifeguard stands and I walked back over to me and Max's chairs

"So when should I be expecting my new niece or nephew?" I rolled my eyes at Max and handed her the Coke and the straw

"We didn't do anything, he just showed me the way to the straws." Max rolled her eyes and put her straw in her drink before taking a long sip

"What is it with you and these damn red straws?" I shrugged my shoulders and looked up at Billy who looked bored out of his mind

"I don't know, they're just special to me." I thought of how much of a coincidence it is that we both drink from red straws and how I'm going to go from only drinking with red straws when I feel like drinking with a straw to drinking everything with a bright red bendy straw
