Description- You, your son, and Billy look through old Photo Albums
————————————————————————

I just got home from the store where I went to develop photos from our sons birthday party last week and when I got through the front door I saw that Billy had already left to go pick up Chase from school

I sat down the pictures on the coffee table in the living room then I walked in the hall so I can open the door to the attic

When I got up into the attic I immediately saw the box labeled photo albums and grabbed it so I can put the pictures in it

I looked through all the binders filled with precious memories, we have a photo album from when I was little, a photo album of Billy when he was little that his grandmother gave to us, a photo album of me and Billy from when we were in high school to now, and a photo album of Chase

I grabbed Chase's album and opened it flipping through until I found empty spots. I went to close the binder but then saw a photo of him when he was a baby and decided to look through it

I teared up when I saw the picture of Billy holding Chase in the hospital moments after he was born, then I flipped through it some more and saw the pictures from his first Birthday where Billy had to help him blow out his candles and I laughed when I saw the photo of him with cake all over him from his smash cake

The door opened and I saw Chase walk in and Billy walked in behind him and I laughed at Chases little backpack that barely went over Billy's shoulder because of his muscles

"Hey, mommy, what are you doing?" Chase sat down next to me and looked at the photo album

"I was putting the photos from your birthday party in here and got distracted." He looked down at the photo of him with cake all over him and pointed at it

"Is that me?" I smiled while nodding and when Billy looked a small smile came onto his face as well

"I was tiny." I nodded then flipped back to the photos of him the day he was born

"You think you were tiny then, look at you when you were born." His eyes widened and looked up at me with shock

"Wow I was like the size of a bean." I smiled then pulled out the very first picture from the album

"This was you when you were still in my tummy, I think I was seven months pregnant so you were about the size of lettuce." I put the sonogram photo back in the album then Chase grabbed the album of me and Billy

"What's this one?" Billy sat down on the other side of Chase and smiled at the album

"That's got pictures of me and mommy in it." Chase sat the album in his lap and opened it to look at the photos

"Woah, is that daddy? He looks crazy! Why's he wearing all that denim?" I smiled at him and looked at the picture of me and Billy standing next to the Camaro and Billy was dressed in denim on denim, with that permed mullet

"It was the 80s, decade of nothing but denim, perm, and hairspray." Billy looked at me while laughing because he knows I'm right

"You better be happy I'm wearing all of that denim, you're mom may not have even looked my way had I not." I rolled my eyes at him because yes even though I loved his denim on denim, his looks and charm was the main reason

"Is this you on your wedding day?" When I looked I saw three pictures of us cutting the cake, one where we're feeding it to each other, another where I put some icing on Billy's nose, and the last one where Billy went to put icing on my face but I smacked his hand away before he could ruin my makeup

"Yeah, I remember it like it was yesterday, you're dad got upset at me for putting icing on his face so I smacked him when he tried doing the same thing to me." Chase smiled at the photo then looked at another picture where me and Billy were exchanging our vows

"You're pretty, mommy." I smiled and he closed it before grabbing the album of Billy "What's this one?"

"You're dad when he was little." He opened it and I immediately smiled at the first picture of him in the bath where you can see that his cute butt has been there his whole life

"Who's that?" I had looked away for a few seconds but when I looked at the album I froze at the picture of baby Billy sitting on Neil's chest

"That's my dad, you're grandfather." I looked at Billy who obviously looked sad because of the times when Neil was a good dad but Billy can't remember cause he was a baby and Neil started drinking and being abusive when Billy was around three years old

"Where is he?" I sighed and Billy quickly came up with a lie to protect his son

"Well, he just couldn't be here around us anymore." Chase nodded and looked down at the photos

"Why, he seems nice just look at how happy he is." Billy sighed and grabbed Chase's hand

"How happy he was." Chase looked up at Billy confused "Chase, when you get a little bit bigger you'll find out that you can be the nicest, kindest person in the world but there's some things that can change people, and you want to stay away from those things."

"Okay." Chase flipped through the album a little then saw a picture of Billy on his first Birthday

"Daddy you had a lot of hair as a baby." I smiled then closed the album

"Alright, I'm gonna go out these albums away." I piled all the binders in the box then took them up into the attic

When I got back into the living room I saw Billy sitting on the couch and Chase wasn't in the room

"Hey, where'd Chase go?" Billy pointed upstairs and I sat down next to Billy

"He went to his room to play." I looked at him with concern because he looked upset

"What's wrong?" Billy looked down at me and I knew he was about to deny any sadness

"I'm fine." I shook my head and looked around before I got up on his lap

"Billy, I've known you for seven years, I know when you're upset, happy, mad, just tell me what's wrong." He placed his hand on my leg and rubbed it up and down my thigh

"That picture, it just reminds me, had he not drank, had he not got into that stuff, how different would my life be? Would I have a dad? Would I have a mom? Would Chase have grandparents?" I placed my hand on his cheek and gave him a sad smile

"Maybe, but when you think about it, if you're mom hadn't left, you wouldn't have came to Hawkins, met me, and even have Chase, yes you may would have benefited more if he'd been kinder, but other than the abusive part, I don't wish the other way. Yes, that may be selfish and may make me a narcissist, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm happy with how things turned out." Billy smiled down at me then gave me a quick kiss

"No, you're not selfish, now that you've said it, I'm glad how things ended as well, I love you, and Chase and wouldn't wish otherwise." I leaned my head up to give him another kiss but way longer than the other kiss

"Thanks, I was worried you'd be upset I didn't wish you're mom stayed, which I do to some extent, but I'm happier how things turned out." Billy wrapped his arms around me as tight as he possibly can

"I love how no matter how sad I am you can make me feel better in a heartbeat, I love you so so much." I hugged him back around the neck while placing a kiss on the side of his head

"Love you too." I started tearing up just thinking about how much hurt he could've avoided had Neil not changed after Billy was a baby
