The morning sunlight gently filtered through the curtains, glowing warmly in (y/n)'s room. As she slowly awoke, her mind immediately turned to the kiss she had shared with Ghost the previous night. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips as her heart fluttered excitedly. It was a moment she had longed for, and now that it had happened, she couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and anticipation for what lay ahead.

It was important to keep her emotions in check. (y/n) wanted to avoid getting too carried away and risking jeopardizing their newfound connection. Determined to balance her excitement and level-headedness, she decided to go for a jog.

Stepping outside, (y/n) inhaled the crisp morning air, letting it fill her lungs and clear her mind. The rhythmic pounding of her footsteps on the pavement served as a soothing melody, helping to calm her nerves and ground her in the present moment.

Graves had caught sight of (y/n) taking a jog, and curiosity got the better of him. His heart yearned for another chance to speak with her and attempt to win her back. A sincere conversation could help bridge the gap that had formed between them. With these thoughts in mind, Graves quietly followed her, maintaining a safe distance.

Meanwhile, Ghost happened to spot Graves tailing her. Concerned about their interaction, he shaded Graves from a distance, his instincts telling him something was amiss. Ghost remained hidden, ensuring he wouldn't interfere unless the situation escalated.

As (y/n) continued her jog, she reveled in the freedom and healing that came with each stride. The rhythm of her footfalls matched the beat of her heart, providing a soothing rhythm to her thoughts. Little did she know that the peacefulness of her run would soon be interrupted.

Graves, catching up to (y/n), approached her with an amiable smile. "Hey, (y/n), mind if I join you for a moment?" he asked, his voice laced with a failed attempt at friendliness.

Pausing her jog momentarily, (y/n) regarded Graves with wariness and curiosity. "Don't really have a choice, do I?"

Graves began the conversation on a positive note, expressing remorse for his past actions. "I want to apologize for everything that happened before. I made a mistake", he admitted, his voice carrying a tinge of sincerity.

(y/n) listened, wanting the interaction to be over. However, Graves' tone shifted as the conversation progressed, revealing an underlying frustration and resentment.

"I can't believe you'd reject me like this," Graves muttered, his face contorting with frustration. "After all we've been through, you still won't give me a chance."

Sensing the change in Graves' demeanor, (y/n) grew cautious. "Graves, it's not about what we've been through but about trust and respect. You tried to kill me to take my place," she responded firmly, her voice tinged with determination and sadness.

Graves, his frustration now boiling over, raised his voice in anger. "It was a misunderstanding! I did it because I thought it would bring us closer. We could've been together," he shouted, his words laced with desperation.

(y/n), refusing to back down, held her ground. "Graves, trying to harm me was not how to express your feelings. It's not something that can be brushed aside as a mere misunderstanding. It was a betrayal of trust," she retorted, her voice unwavering.

Ghost, observing the tense exchange from a distance, could no longer remain a silent observer. Stepping forward, he interjected calmly but firmly. "That's enough, Graves," he said, his voice commanding attention.

Graves turned to face Ghost, his anger momentarily redirected. " "Or what, Ghost? Are you going to save her again? You think you're her knight in shining armor?" he spat, his frustration now directed at his former teammate.

The tension in the air thickened as Ghost and Graves locked eyes, their animosity intensifying. But before the situation could escalate further, (y/n) suddenly swung her fist and connected with Graves' jaw, silencing him.

"That's enough, Commander Graves!" she exclaimed, reminding him who was in charge. (y/n) turned away from Graves, walking away.

Once (y/n) was out of earshot, Ghost turned to Graves, his voice low but commanding. "You need to let her go."

Graves glared at Ghost, his voice dripping with disdain. "You think you can protect her? You're just as much of a liability as she is. All you two do is distract each other on the battlefield, and it's only a matter of time before one of you gets killed."

With a final seething glare, Graves turned on his heel and walked away, leaving Ghost to grapple with the weight of their words.

Ghost stood there, his mind filled with a whirlwind of emotions after his intense conversation with Graves. Doubt began to seep into his thoughts, clouding his judgment and overshadowing his feelings for (y/n). He couldn't help but question himself and his place in her life.

A sense of inadequacy washed over him as he replayed Graves' words. Perhaps Graves was right, and he was just a hindrance, a distraction. Ghost's heart sank as he considered that he didn't deserve her and couldn't protect her in the way she needed.

In that moment of self-reflection, Ghost realized he needed to make a difficult decision. He couldn't let his feelings cloud (y/n)'s path or jeopardize her safety. It was time to end things before they became too serious before he became the one who held her back.

With a heavy heart, Ghost returned to his room, a somber realization settling deep within him. He couldn't deny the love he felt for (y/n).

Ghost sat down on the edge of his bed, his thoughts consumed by the bittersweet realization; letting go of (y/n) was going to hurt.
