Y/N had been best friends with Stevie Nicks since their freshman year of high school. They had spent countless nights talking about music, their dreams, and their future plans. Y/N had always been in love with Stevie, but he knew that she didn't see him that way. Despite the pain it caused him, he had accepted their friendship for what it was and cherished every moment they spent together.

One night, they attended a party together. It was the kind of party where the music was loud, the drinks were flowing, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Stevie was stunning in her flowing dress, and Y/N couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as he watched other guys trying to hit on her.

But then, Robert Plant walked in.

Stevie's eyes lit up as soon as she saw him. Y/N felt a sinking feeling in his chest as he watched her walk over to Robert and start talking to him. They seemed to be hitting it off right away, and Y/N could see the chemistry between them.

As the night wore on, Y/N watched as Stevie and Robert engaged in obvious flirtation and desire for each other. It was like he wasn't even there, like he was invisible to them both. He tried to push the feelings of despair down, but it was impossible.

Finally, Stevie took Robert's hand and led him away to a more secluded part of the party. Y/N felt the entire weight of the world crash down on him, and before he knew it, he was out the door, running away without Stevie or Robert noticing.

He found himself sitting on the curb, tears streaming down his face. He felt like a fool for ever thinking that he had a chance with Stevie. As he sat there, lost in his thoughts, he heard a voice behind him.

"Y/N, what's wrong?"

It was Stevie. He turned to look at her, and his heart broke all over again. She looked so happy, so alive, and he knew that he could never make her feel that way.

"Nothing," he said, his voice choked with emotion. "I just need some time alone."

Stevie looked at him with concern in her eyes. "Are you sure? You can talk to me about anything, you know that."

Y/N shook his head. "It's nothing, really. I just need to be alone for a while."

Stevie nodded, and for a moment, they sat there in silence, just looking at each other. Y/N knew that this was the moment he had been dreading, the moment when he would have to say goodbye to the girl he loved.

"I should go," he said, standing up. "I'll see you around, Stevie."

Stevie stood up too, and before he knew it, she was hugging him tightly. "Don't be a stranger, okay? I'll always be here for you."

Y/N hugged her back, trying to memorize the feel of her in his arms. "I know," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'll never forget you, Stevie."

And with that, he turned and walked away, trying to escape from a heartbreak that would never heal.

The weeks passed by, and Y/N tried his best to come to terms with the fact that Stevie was with Robert. He tried to keep his distance, but it was hard when she was always on his mind. He heard rumors about their passionate affair, but he tried his best to ignore them.

One night, he received a call from Stevie. She sounded different, not like her usual confident self.

"Y/N, can I come over?" she said, her voice shaky.

"Of course, Stevie," Y/N replied, feeling a mixture of anxiety and hope.

When Stevie arrived, Y/N could tell that something was wrong. She looked like she had been crying, and her eyes were red and puffy.

"What happened?" Y/N asked, concerned.

"It's over," Stevie said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Robert and I...we're done."

Y/N's heart sank as he saw the pain in Stevie's eyes. He knew that he should be happy that Robert was out of the picture, but he couldn't help feeling angry and hurt that Stevie had been so careless with his heart.

"I'm sorry, Stevie," Y/N said, trying to keep his voice steady. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Stevie nodded, and they sat down on the couch. Stevie told him about how Robert had cheated on her, how he had been seeing other women behind her back. Y/N listened, feeling a mix of sympathy and anger towards Robert.

"I should have seen it coming," Stevie said, wiping away her tears. "I was so blinded by him, I didn't see the signs."

Y/N put his arm around her, trying to offer her some comfort. "It's not your fault, Stevie. You can't control other people's actions."

Stevie leaned into him, and for a moment, Y/N felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe this was his chance, maybe he could finally tell her how he felt.

But then, Stevie pulled away, and Y/N knew that it was over before it had even begun.

"Thank you, Y/N," Stevie said, standing up. "I don't know what I would do without you."

Y/N watched as she walked out the door, feeling like he had missed his chance. He knew that he would always love Stevie, but he also knew that it was time to move on.

As he sat there, lost in his thoughts, he heard Stevie's voice in his head, and he knew that he would always be there for her, no matter what.

"I'll always be here for you, Y/N."

Days turned into weeks, and Y/N tried his best to move on from Stevie. But every time he heard her name or saw her on TV, his heart would ache with longing.

Then, he heard the news that Stevie had moved on with Don Henley, and something inside him snapped. He couldn't handle the heartbreak any longer, couldn't bear the thought of Stevie with another man.

He found himself pacing back and forth in his apartment, his anger simmering just below the surface. How many times had he been there for her? How many times had he listened to her cry and complain about her love life, all the while ignoring the fact that he was in love with her?

He felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes, and he tried his best to push them down. But it was no use, and before he knew it, he was crying, his tears mixing with his anger and his heartbreak.

"Why does she always do this to me?" he muttered to himself, his voice shaking with emotion. "Why can't she see how much I love her?"

He thought about all the times he had been there for Stevie, all the times he had put his own feelings aside for hers. And yet, she had never once done the same for him.

His anger turned to tears, and his tears turned to heartbreak. He watched as the woman he had been in love with for so long slowly walked out of his life, and he knew that it was over.

"I can't do this anymore," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I need to move on."

And with that, he wiped away his tears, took a deep breath, and walked out of his apartment, ready to start a new chapter in his life.

As he sits beside the window of the bus, watching the scenery pass him by. He slowly closes his eyes and for the first time in his life, he was at peace.
