"So, did something trigger you back there? You spoke to me in such a demanding tone, like you wanted to get the hell out of there."
I paused, glancing to the side so that I could focus on Griff.
"I just don't like being called a monster. I haven't been called it much, but it still bothered me. Especially after hearing your story. You're not a monster, Griff. They made you a monster," I honestly answered, folding up my dirty clothes.
We had found a hotel nearby. It still had fresh clothes from before the apocalypse.
I changed into something comfortable, shorts with a baggy shirt.
I finally turned to Griff, noticing that he was staring at the ground.
"You must be mistaken. You're not a monster. Regardless of my past, I still am one." he responded, going back to putting his hair up.
I dropped my hands to my side, sighing deeply at his response.
"That's not right. If it doesn't apply to me, it shouldn't apply to you." I spoke, walking up to him.
He stood seated, staring up at me.
"You haven't killed thousands."
"They forced you to. You didn't do it at your own will. That shouldn't count,"
"I'm owning up to my actions."
I shook my head, glancing down at him.
We stared at each other for that solid moment, letting the silence fill the room.
"Why do you act like you don't deserve respect?"
I know that question tripped him up. He glanced down in shame, holding onto the mattress for support.
I genuinely wanted an answer from him, but my thoughts wandered pretty easily.
I glanced him up and down to take in the sight. Once again, we were only inches apart from each other.
He only had an undershirt and shorts on, his hair lazily clipped together.
Damn.
"I'd answer, but you seem focused on something else,"
I blinked back to reality, realizing that he was right.
"Sorry, it's just-"
I couldn't even bring myself to answer. I was simply mesmerized by him.
Remember the question I asked myself back at the camp? The one about attraction?
Well, I wouldn't care if the answer were both right now.
I noticed his eyes lazily look up at mine. His eyelids were hung over his dark eyes, but I could still feel them burn into mine.
His voice was deep and quiet, like his answer was an honest prayer to someone.
His voice felt dripped with honey once again. It felt like music to my ears.
So much that I didn't even realize my leaning in.
Before I could react to anything I felt right now, I felt him grab ahold of me.
His arms wrapped around my waist, holding me up and pulling me into him.
I placed my hands under his chin, bringing them up to cup his face.
I clashed my lips against his, leaving a small peck before deepening it.
He was the one to take it further, sneakily slipping his tongue into my mouth.
