Griff sank down in his chair, his eyes widening when he finally put together what I did.
"Shit."
"They made you their murder weapon! They made us their weapons! Did you notice? Everyone who works for this camp has a special ability. Athena with the Medusa eyes, Vespera with the alien abilities, Aurelio's ability to kill people with glare? Notice how all of them are combat based? Your mouth, that can chew through nearly everything. My gravity manipulation, which works so good in combat and spy work. We were the failed tests of Chimeras, but they fixed us to be their weapons. Chimeras were just the success that could help them tear down the world so they could build up. Notice how they came out of nowhere as an Anti-Chimera camp and began gathering all Erliks? It's a cover-up because they're the ones that made it all." I explained really fast, so excited that I finally connected the dots.
"The Anti-Chimera Association. I walked in on a meeting that Olivia was having, that was on the paper she handed on. They are the Association, meaning they're the masterminds," Aino's mouth gaped, his gestures moving even faster now.
"They're controlling our new world."
"Holy shit," Griff sighed, laughing a bit from all this information.
"Kama's right. They caused everything." Aino spoke in shock, his hands dropping to his side.
We all stood silent afterward, like we were all letting this sink in for a moment.
I decided to break the silence cause I had something else in my head.
"Do you wanna know the one thing I don't get?" I started, both their eyes fixing onto me.
"Aurelio mentioned Griff's treason the very first chance he got. Aino's kidnapping sounded more like a consequence rather than a discussion. The moment we got to this camp, they made it seem like it was a bargain. They painted it as sadness that Griff left. Like we all had the right to make a choice. Why would they let us leave if we know so much information. Why would they let us leave if Griff wants to tear them down and commited all this treason? Then we were sent to this apartment the moment things got tense," I continued, pausing a bit when I realized what I was about to say.
"Don't tell me..." Aino spoke in my silence, noticing my expression.
"I don't think they're planning to let us leave."
"Fuck, now I don't wanna stay." Aino groaned, throwing his head back.
"Then we have to get out of here fast." Griff responded, getting up from the couch.
"We can build our own society. It could be one that accepts everyone, that gives children in an unstable area a home. We won't make chimeras, and we'll accept people like you and Kama as normal people. It could be what we never had," Aino mused, watching Griff pace back and forth.
"That sounds great, but right now, we have to focus on getting out of here." I spoke, trying not to sound rude.
"Oh— right," he focused back to the main point.
"We'll go at night while everyone is sleeping. I know all the security patrol areas, I can work around them. We dash out of New York the moment we're out," Griff ordered, genuinely piecing together our escape.
"Okay, so we're actually gonna do this?" I asked, glancing between the two of them.
"It's Griff, I'll always be in. Do you want to be a trio again, Kama?" Aino spoke, holding his hand out like he was giving me a pending challenge.
I grabbed a hold of it, letting him pull me to my feet.
"I'm in."
