When night fell, we started packing up all our stuff. We kept it all in one bag, so we wouldn't have to carry separate ones and get weighed down.

Griff showed us an emergency staircase that was hidden by Aino's bed. He said that the elevator would cause too much attention.

We shut the secret door behind us, following Griff's lead.

The stairwell was slightly dimmed, flickering lights making it even more creepy. The stairs were completely stone, the edges of them were coated in steel.

Worst part?

There were no railings.

There was a large hole going down the middle of the spiral, nothing stopping any of us from falling down it.

For someone that can manipulate gravity and fly super high, I actually had a bad fear of heights.

"How far do these lead down?" Aino asked, keeping his voice at a whisper.

"They lead all the way down to the side of the building. The rest of the way will run smooth, it'll be on the final floor when we have to worry about security." Griff responded, keeping ahead of us so that he can keep guard.

He was right. We breezed right through the stairwell without any interruptions. It was dead silent, though, that made us uneasy.

When we got to the bottom, a door stood between us and the small lobby. Griff opened it slightly, seeing two guards standby the door to the outside.

"Fuck, that's a problem," he sighed, glancing down at his hands.

"What are you thinking?" Aino asked, like he knew when Griff was devising a plan.

"Kama, you can move fast if you manipulate your gravity, right?" he asked me, continuing to look down.

"Yeah, I can." I responded, leaning forward to look at his face.

"See that wall right there? When I give you the signal, you're gonna run behind there. Make as much noise as possible, then hide. When both guards go to check on it, I'll come behind and do my thing. Aino, you'll be look out and making sure that no one else is around. Then, we all make our escape," he explained, glancing up at the two guards.

"What's the signal?" I asked him, glancing at the two guards too.

It seems like he had to think for a moment.

"Grinoma,"

We stood silent afterward, all keeping close watch on the two guards.

Griff kept his hand raised, waiting to give me the signal.

I manipulated my gravity beforehand, making sure that I was ready to go when he gave it.

The seconds felt like forever, but the moment both guards were in the right position, he gave the signal.

I dashed past him, quickly going behind the wall.

I banged on the wall when I arrived, going into the far corner so I could hide.

I heard the guards stop behind the wall, the sounds of their guns clicking in the silence.

I shut my eyes, depending on Griff, to deal with them.

I listened intently, hearing their small footsteps coming closer and closer.

I knew they had it, but I couldn't stop my heart from beating in fear.

"Hey!" I heard them yell beside me, the sound of their guns being the only other noise I heard.

I didn't respond, but I didn't have to because a splattering noise let me know that I was safe.
