Jax Martinéz's POV

I was watching her from across the hospital room. She was laying lifeless in a white bed connected to a beeping screen showing hear blood pressure and heart beat. I was listening to the beeping sound. It was the only sound in here.

A nurse entered the room and gave me a fast look before she walked up to Ashley and started to adjust the plastic bag hanging  on a holder. "Morphine?" I asked and the nurse nodded. "She's in a lot of pain" She said and turned to look at me. "You were very lucky... But she did not have the same luck as you" She mumbled and looked down at her notes. "When will she be fine?" I asked and she looked up at me with a disappointed expression. "It will take time, we will take her in to operation in a few minutes to help her body stabilise her broken ribs and she also hit her head pretty hard and her spine needs to be checked" She said and analysed my reaction to what she just said. I just stood there like a fool. More than five other nursers and doctors entered the room and walked up to Ashley.

"They will take her to operation, we have an officer who would like to talk to you" She said and I followed her out from the room. It was hard leaving Ashley alone but I didn't have any choice. I was the one who fucked up, I put her in this situation.

"Can you please take blow in this pipe?" The officer said and handed me the breathalyser. I grabbed it and did as he said. The officer looked at the device and shook his head. "No sings of alcohol" He mumbled to his colleague and she looked at me from top to toe. "Can you explain the incident from the beginning for us please" She said and I stared at the wall behind her. Looking at an invisible spot. I nodded. "I was driving, and she didn't shut up... I drove too fast. The car was on my file. He was driving in the wrong file at our fucking direction"

"Did you fight?" The old officer asked and looked down in his notes. "That does that have to do with all of this?!" I asked and looked at the officer. "Did you fight?" He repeated himself. "Yes"

"And how fast where you driving?" The female officer asked. "I don't know" I mumbled. "You don't know how fast you where driving?" She asked and I nodded.  "We can see here that you have multiple speeding tickets, Mr Martinez this isn't your first time driving too fast" She said and pointed her pen at me. "We will give you a speeding ticket as your last warning, next time will lead to stricter consequences" She said and and I nodded again. I had nothing to say. "We have another interview to do. Solve your problems young man and be there for her" The older officer said and nodded at the direction of Ashleys hospital room.

"I almost killed her" I whispered to myself, "I almost fucking killed her".

°°°

The four words felt like knives stabbing me in the chest repeatedly. "I. Almost. Killed. HER"  Over and over again, it needs to stop. I can't feel like this, I can't be like this. She have made me weak, she have made me feel something I never felt before. And I can't give her the same. I can't give her what she needs. All I do is drag her into danger and problems. She's better off without me. I needed to breath, I needed to think about something else.

I opened the door to the bar and sat down at the bar chair. There was a bar five minutes away from the hospital. "One gals of whisky please" I said and the bartender nodded and handed me the drink. I looked down in glas. I knew I was about to do something that will hurt both me and her, but I need to do this. "Do you have a pen and a paper?" I looked up and asked.

Ashley Roberts POV -

I woke up to the beeping sound of hospital monitors. My eyes was heavy and I couldn't move my body. Everything was so heavy and I finally succeed to open my eyes. "She's awake" Paul shouted and looked at me. There was four people in the room. Dad, Paul, Mom and Emma. But I didn't care about them, there's only one person I want to see right now. "Where is he?" I asked with a weak hoarse voice. "Ashley he's not here..." Dad said and I looked at Emma and mom. Why are they here?!

"Can you go and get him?" I asked Paul and he shook his head. "He's not here, he can't come." He said and looked at me with deep sorrow. "What? Give me my phone!" I raised my voice and the monitors started to beep faster. "Is he alright?!" I asked with a worried voice. "Yes, but he wanted me to give you this" Paul said and handed me a paper. "What is this? can you please go and get him?" I asked and I felt how tears started to run down me cheeks. "He wouldn't leave me, not now..." I said and the monitors started to beep faster and faster.

A nurse entered the room and looked at me and then at dad. "I think its time for some pain killers" She said and I looked at her. "No no not yet" I said and looked down at the letter. "Oh honey you can read that later" She said and changed one of the plastic bag above my head. "Dad?" I asked and he looked down at me and grabbed my hand. "I dont want to fall back asleep, I need to talk to him" I mumbled and he shook his head. "It's alright sweetheart, you need this" He said and I looked at mom and Emma before my eyes felt heavy and I couldn't hold them open anymore.
