LANA'S POV :
This is the first time in five years of my stay here that my name wasn't in the list of students staying back for the holidays.
It was the last day of school before Christmas break , as I was walking down the hallways , I noticed Hagrid dragging a huge tree for the decorations of the great hall.
" Hello Hagrid , do you need help ? " I asked
" Hello little red ! I've got this one , thanks for asking, how are you feeling now ? " asked Hagrid
I smiled at him and said " I'm much better now , thanks for the broccoli soup, it really helped ! "
He smiled widely " no need for thanking me ! " he said and ruffled my hair affectionately
I smiled up at him tearfully

As I made my way out of Hogwarts express , I started making my way towards the exit of kings cross station to summon the knight bus , the earlier I reach home, the earliest I can start planning.
Lana was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't notice Regulus gazing at her with love and longingness .
Sirius patted his brother's back sympathetically

Little Hangleton was a small , peaceful village
Lana didn't know the direction to the gaunt shack , when she asked an elderly man to give her
the directions , his reaction shocked her , he started shouting at her , saying never to enter there.
Lana calmed the man down and apologised , quickly walking out
On her way , she met a young woman, who must be in her early 20's or so , she told her the directions but also told her to never set a foot there , the shack was said to be haunted.
Hmmm, it must be because of the protection charm placed on the ring to deter visitors
Lana silently entered the shack and took the ring out of the box , placing it inside the little pouch she bought along with her.
Plus , this place needed cleaning , the smell here is horrible !

I hopped on a muggle bus and made my way out of the village , after reaching the nearby town , I quickly looked for an empty corner and ran inside.
I took out the ring and venom dipped serpent fang and stabbed the ring , a huge light emanated from the ring and I was thrown backwards, with the ring broken in shards but what I also noticed was that the ring contained the resurrection stone !
Means the gaunts were also related to the Peverells ?
Then I remembered Cadmus Peverell ! , his great granddaughter Linda Peverell married into the Slytherin line and a few generations later , Athena Slytherin married into the Gaunt family, thus passing over the ring to them .
This explains the resurrection stone

Lana couldn't trust Dumbledore on this matter , so she immediately wrote a letter to Gringotts and requested them to keep the ring safe , until the rightful owner comes and retrieves it.
She Immediately got a reply and gave them a location to come and retrieve the stone
Next morning, a goblin from Gringotts arrived and promised to keep the ring safe.

Next as I was reading the paper , I read the headlines of the day !
NARCISSA BLACK ENGAGED TO HEIR MALFOY !
Below the headlines was a moving black and white picture of a young Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy, even from the picture one could make out how much love and respect they held for eachother . What changed ?
Just beside Narcissa was an older couple, Cygnus and Druella Black , Narcissa was the spitting image of her mother and beside Lucius was an older man , standing proudly , Abraxas Malfoy, Draco's grandfather.
Wow !

A day before going back to Hogwarts Lana went to diagonally to purchase a few potion ingredients, when she collided with something hard.
" I'm sorry "
" Pardon "
Lana looked up and her eyes went wide, it was Regulus !
" I'm sorry, I should go " I said and started to walk away when he grabbed my wrist to stop me
" Lana please ! I need you " he said cupping my face in his hands
" I - I can't Reggie, you're going to get engaged " I said and was about to leave when he slammed me against the wall and his lips were on mine, I was shocked but slowly started to kiss him back.
He pulled back and kissed my forehead " you may not feel the same about me but I love you Lana " with that he walked away
W- what ?
