Can You Hold Me?

"Damon will be watching her." Elena announced as she walked back into the living room, quickly making her way right over to Bonnie who was perched in front of her grimoire "Care also said if we are not on time, she'll kill us both."

Bonnie shook her head in amusement, however, she was quickly forced to re-focused on the whole reason she wasn't able to rush off and check on Buffy herself.

Like her entire body was itching too.

She hated having to leave someone else in charge of watching Buffy.

Buffy was her person!

And this baby was literally her God-daughter!

Not being there, made Bonnie's skin crawl and left her wanting to scream.

But right now, she had to focus on Jeremy.

As Shane gave them the sign that he was ready, Bonnie and Elena carefully stood up.

Shane quickly focused on Elena "All Jeremy feels when he sees a dangerous supernatural creature is a burning desire to kill them. Buffy and the baby are only safe because she trained Jeremy for years. Given the tie between hunters and Slayers, all those years she spent training him help mask his thoughts of the baby. In your case, even if consciously, he doesn't want to kill you, it's his subconscious that's calling the shots."

Trying not to flinch at the reminder of how much closer Jeremy and Buffy were, Elena gulped nervously as she focused on her brother.

Deep down, as much as she would deny it, it hurt knowing just how much her brother preferred Buffy over her.

While Buffy was their sister, it didn't change the fact that growing up, Buffy had been their cousin.

Yet, Jeremy had always gone to Buffy first.

His hunter side had seen Buffy as family, as someone to protect, while he had just seen Elena as a dangerous Banshee.

It hurt.

Slowly approaching Jeremy, who was currently tied to a chair with his eyes closed, she glanced over at Bonnie for help.

"Persuasion helps reverse your subconscious thoughts." Bonnie explained.

"Think of it as kind of a conditioned response, right?" Shane added, trying to make it simpler for her to understand "See vampire, see banshee. Kill. What I'm doing is creating a kind of middle step." He explained before moving carefully around Jeremy who was still stuck in a trance, focused on nothing but the crystal in front of him "It's like a detour where his subconscious learns to recognize you as someone he loves. Someone he wants to protect. Like with your sister. And that gives him a choice. He can choose to take the detour instead of the conditioned response."

A conditioned response, that would result in Elena's death.

"Klaus, I'm fine." Buffy moaned as she made her way through the Gilbert kitchen, her body completely exhausted and ready to rest "I'm not dedicating. Shane said the potion might make me feel a little sick at first."

It was safe to say, that potion had sent Buffy back to her first trimester.

She had thrown up twice in the past hour.

"Look my room is still here. I will take a nap and meet you at the showing later. Your work is not the only piece being displayed."

Carol Lockwood, after hearing about Buffy's showcase in New York and the success demanded a piece for the Winter Festival.

Right now, one of Buffy's water paintings of the snow falling over Sunnydale was being hung up for display as well.

A painting taking inspiration from one of Buffy's fake memories from Sunnydale, a life that still felt as real to her as her actual life.

There was a long pause followed by Klaus letting out a small breath through the line "Your confidence in painting has come a long way love."
