The Queens Of Deception

"Look who found his dancing shoes." Katherine teased as she and Stefan continued to dance around the ballroom of the Lockwood Mansion, doing one of the town's traditional dances.

Stefan chuckled at her teasing and breaking the rules he leaned forward fully intent on kissing her only for the vampire to lean away, a small giggle escaping her lips.

"Uh! No touching Mr. Salvatore. Those are the rules."

Stefan couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as a small laugh left his lips "I thought you didn't believe in rules." He reminded her only to frown as he spotted his brother from the corner of his eye.

Damon was stood off to the side watching the pair with a heartbroken look on his face.

"My brother's still upset you chose me to escort you."

"Well, Damon needs to concede that his younger brother is a better dancer." Katherine told him with a small smirk before allowing Stefan to twirl her.

As he pulled her back she tilted her head curiously "Oh, looks like Mary is occupying his time." 

Stefan frowned in confusion and glanced over only for his eyes to widen in shock as instead of finding the raven-haired witch in a ball gown he found Buffy standing with Damon in a pair of jeans and her normal leather jacket.

Slowly Stefan pulled away from the vampire unable to tear his gaze away from the blonde currently laughing with his brother "Buffy..."

"Stefan, don't..." Katherine whispered but it doesn't even phase Stefan as he began making his way toward Buffy who was being led out of the room by Damon.

"Buffy!" He called as he quickly followed after the pair, heading through the door they had just disappeared through.

As he walked into the room his eyes widened as he quickly found himself standing in The Grill, back in modern clothing.

Free of the clothes he had worn as a human.

Frowning he quickly glanced around sighing in relief as he spotted Buffy.

Her blonde curls ran past her shoulders as she continued to set up the pool table for a game.

As she stood up straight, she glanced in his direction holding out the cue for him with a teasing smile "Come on..." She taunted "It's about time you learned how to play properly."

Stefan couldn't help but smile at her words before moving toward her only for his eyes to widen as Damon blocked his path heading straight over to Buffy with two drinks in his hands.

"Hey, I play perfectly you just cheat." Damon argued as he placed the drinks on the table before leaning down and placing a kiss on Buffy's lips making Stefan's stomach drop as he was forced to watch the display.

Buffy rolled her eyes playfully as she pulled back before tapping Damon's chest lightly "I don't cheat...I'm just extremely lucky."

Stefan couldn't help but watch with a heartbroken expression as Damon threw an arm over Buffy's shoulder holding her tightly.

It made him feel sick watching the two of them together.

"It hurts doesn't it?" Another voice asked causing Stefan to freeze as he felt Katherine walk up beside him still in her ballgown from 1864 "Now you know how I feel." She whispered before taking his face in her hands forcing his eyes to meet hers "Don't fight it, Stefan. You loved me once. You can love me again."

Stefan shook his head glancing back over at Buffy only to have Katherine grab his arm pulling him back to her, back to that ballroom from 1864 "I love you, Stefan. We'll be together again...I promise."

Stefan gasped as he finally woke up in his bed in the Boarding house.

Letting out a sigh of relief that it had all just been a horrible dream.

But despite knowing that, he couldn't help but feel hurt as images of Buffy and Damon kissing filled his brain.

It was his worst nightmare.

Feeling a weight on his chest, he glanced down expecting to find Buffy still asleep, however, his eyes widened in panic as he spotted a familiar maine of brunette hair resting on his chest.

Without hesitation, Stefan sped to the other side of the room glaring down at the vampire who was comfortably laid out on his bed with a bright smirk on her face "Katherine."
