SUNNYDALE, CALIFORNIA: TWO WEEKS LATER

Running through one of the many cemeteries of Sunnydale, Buffy weaved through the darkness, dodging around the dozens of graves filling the cemetery. As she managed to build up her speed, she started to close in on the vampire that was currently trying to escape from her.

Buffy placed her foot on a nearby grave and pushed herself upwards. Diving through the air she managed to tackle the vampire to the ground and quickly rolled herself back up.

As he tried to stand, Buffy sent a sharp powerful kick to his face, sending him spinning through the air before he landed on the ground.

Growling loudly, the vampire jumped back up to his feet and rushed at Buffy, intent on ripping her throat out.

That was his biggest mistake... thinking he could win.

As he swung his leg out, Buffy easily deflected it and dropped to her knees, swinging her leg around. His feet were swept out from under him and once again, the vampire hit the ground with a thud.

Buffy spun herself back up and pulled out the stake from her back pocket.

Quickly leaping into a front aerial, her feet connected with his face, knocking him back down and making his attempt to stand futile.

Before he could even try and fight back again, Buffy drove the stake straight into his heart.

His body quickly combusted into a million specks of dust.

Slowly, Buffy stood back up and a satisfied grin covered her face as she felt the adrenaline pumping through her veins; the satisfaction of the kill.

As she soaked in her success, Buffy didn't notice the two pairs of eyes watching her from the distance.

Stefan and Damon watched from the shadows as Buffy placed the stake back in her pocket before heading off in the opposite direction.

As they watched the woman they hadn't seen in a over year move away, Damon moved to follow her but Stefan grabbed his arm, yanking him back.

"What the hell are you doing?"

Stefan sighed as he glanced back at his girlfriend's retreating figure. After a year apart, he could spot the small differences in her. Buffy was more mature and her hair now had a golden tint to it.

She looked more beautiful than ever, but as much as he wanted to speak to her, they couldn't risk it.

Not yet.

"It's been a year Damon. We don't know what Klaus did to her. We need to observe for now. Plus, it's best if Elena is the first to approach and we need to wait to hear from Bonnie. She's gonna make sure Klaus is nowhere near here. You know what Buffy would do if she found out we risked Elena's safety to help her."

Buffy had given up her entire life for over a year to Klaus to keep Elena's existence a secret. If they exposed Elena now, it would make her sacrifice worthless.

Damon ripped his arm from Stefan's grasp before groaning in annoyance, as much as he hated it, his brother was right "Blondie would kill us for sure. Fine. We watch and find out what Klaus did to her. My guess is he's got her on some happy pills or something."

Taking in a shaky breath, Damon turned his attention back to the blonde currently leaving the cemetery.

"One thing for sure, the girl hasn't lost her touch."
