Two days had passed, and Anubhav had successfully shifted to the rented flat. The flat had two rooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a small living room area. It was already furnished with wooden furniture, including a bed, table, and sofas, and equipped with basic electronic items like bulbs and fans provided by the flat owner (alag se charge laga hai) . Anubhav had purchased some utensils and other daily essentials to make the flat feel more like home.
He called Haseena daily, but he still felt lonely and missed her presence, as well as the lively chit-chat sessions with Sona and her family. Before moving to Vrindavan, he had enjoyed his solitude, but now he was attached to Keshav, Harsh, and Sona in just one and a half months.
The situation at Malik Niwas hadn't changed much. Haseena is too missing Anubhav dearly, because the physical distance between them was not what she desired. However, the malicious gossip of society and neighbors had compelled her to create some distance between them before their marriage.
Her father, Keshav, was also concerned about them, sensing that there was a problem. Haseena hadn't disclosed the real reason to him; she had simply told him that they wanted to arrange everything in the flat before the wedding, which is why Anubhav had left. Nevertheless, Keshav had also overheard the neighbors' daily gossip, which had forced him to respect Haseena's decision. Sona and the sisters asked questions, but Haseena had silenced them with a firm "No discussion."
And just like that, New Year passed. Haseena invited Anubhav for dinner, but he refused, citing work as the reason. However, he didn't to mention that he was doing overtime and double shifts for extra income, this information remained undisclosed to Haseena.
Haseena couldn't help but feel that the physical distance was affecting them emotionally as well. Anubhav didn't answer her calls properly, and their video calls had become less frequent.
On a Sunday morning, Haseena was on the terrace, hanging clothes to dry. As she diligently carried out her task, she couldn't help but overhear the neighboring women engaged in a lively conversation.
"Kaa baat kar rahi ho, sach mein?" one woman asked another, her surprise evident.
"Haan..!" The other woman replied.
"Dekh kar toh lagta nhi tha ki Gupta ji ka ladka aisa karega...!" commented the first woman.
"Dekhne ka kaa hai, mard jaat hoti hi aisi hai Mishraain..jahan sundar ladki dekhi nhi ki fisal liye..!" The second woman remarked.
"Aisa nahi hai..mard bhi kya kare jab samne se ishare mile....insaan khud ko do se char din rok sakta hai par jab roj roj koi ishare kare toh fisal hi jayega aur Gupta ji ke ladke ko toh woh ladki samne se bulai hai...!" Another one said.
"Sach mein, uski toh sagai ho gyi thi na?" The first woman asked.
"Haan par Kuch ladkiyan waisi hi hoti hai...akela ladka dekha nhi ki fasa liya aur Gupta ji ka ladka dikhne mein bhi accha khasa hai aur upar se kamai bhi toh hai, ab ladki ne fasa liya toh ladka, paisa sab uska hua aur rahi sagai ka toh bhai sagai toh tut hi gyi ab..!" The third woman said.
"Bhagwaan jaane kya ho gya hai aajkal ke baccho ko, batao itni acchi ladki se shaadi hone wali thi ab kahan pyaar ke chakkar mein pad kar sab kharab kar diya...!" chimed in another woman.
As these conversations and discussions continued, Haseena sighed and descended from the terrace.
"Anubhav ji, do hafte ho gaye hai aaj toh aa jaiye milne..!" Haseena urged Anubhav, who was on the phone.
Anubhav-sorry Haseena ji aaj nhi, aaj hume thoda kaam hai..(he replied, adding spices to his vegetable curry.
Haseena-thik hai phir hum aa ja rahe hai...kyunki hum aapse baat karni hai...(she firmly stated).
