8. His Friends

"Sanjana, why are you doing this? Is it really necessary?"

Sanjana could not get over what happened in the morning. She continued to think about it the whole day.

During lunch, Sanjana was eating alone. She was feeling awkward as she had gotten used to eating lunch with Karan. She looked up and met with a familiar pair of hazel eyes staring deep into her soul from a distance.

Sanjana immediately looked down and focussed back on eating.

Karan kept looking at Sanjana.

Rahul: (noticing Karan's gaze) "Are you two fighting?"

Karan looked away from Sanjana.

Karan: (trying to focus on eating) "None of your business."

Rahul: (smirking) "Then would you mind if I approach her?"

Karan glanced at him once and looked down at his food.

Rahul: (getting up from his seat) "I'll take that as a no."

Suresh: (giving a small laugh) "Don't tell me you're interested in Sanjana."

Rahul: (smirking) "I like cute girls."

Sanjana was looking down at her food trying to avoid Karan's gaze. She heard the chair beside her being pulled. She turned her face to meet the eyes of a familiar face.

Boy: (smiling) "Can I sit down?"

Sanjana: "Yes sure."

Sanjana took a short glance at Karan who was talking with his friend.

Sanjana: (looking at the boy beside her) "I know you. I've seen you with Karan."

Boy: "Yes, I'm Karan's best friend. My name is Rahul."

Sanjana shook his hand. He seemed friendly and cheerful.

Rahul: (taking a glance at Karan) "Couple fight?"

Sanjana's eyes widened.

Sanjana: (embarrassed) "What? No! No! We are not a couple!"

Sanjana shook her hands and head vigorously to deny it.

Rahul chuckled seeing Sanjana's red face.

Rahul: (cheeky smile) "Since both of you are not dating, why don't you hang out with me?"

Sanjana looked at him confused.

Rahul: (moving closer) "See, I find you very cute. And I kind of like you."

Sanjana's eyes widened at his sudden confession.

Sanjana: (surprised) "Wow, you are so straightforward."

Rahul: (proudly) "Yeah, I know that. So, what do you say?"

Sanjana bit her lower lip and glanced at Karan who was busy looking at his phone. Rahul noticed her gaze.

Rahul: (chuckling) "You're different from others. I thought girls were attracted to my charms."

Sanjana looked at him, confused.

Rahul: (sighing) "Let's do one thing. Go on a date with me. Just one."

Sanjana: (nervous) "Uhm...date? Where will you take me?"

Rahul: "Club! Be my partner tonight!"

Sanjana: (scoffing) "Club? You are not even 18!"

Rahul: (laughing) "I have my ways. Are you in for that?"
