I was alone in the waiting room. Marcus, Benjamin and Samael all walked out to the party. I was waiting for their call. Once I get it I can walk out and meet the rest of the vampires gathered here.

It was all planned out.

All alone with myself and my thoughts it was easy for me to wonder. One incident. Just one bloody incident for me to completely have my life turn 360.

Nothing made sense.

No matter how well Samael, Benjamin or Marcus treated me, I was still feeling displaced. Like I did not belong.

May be I did not belong.

Then why don't I just walk out and walk away?

I was scared. After my parents I had no one I could depend on. These were some people I could rely on. The thought made me shudder. All this while Samael and Marcus has only told me I was their family. But I had never seen proof. Was this all a lie? Was there a bigger picture here that I was not able to see?

Come to think of it. I was always told things but was never shown any of them. Like proof that I was part of Samael's family. Why lie? Why keep me in the dark? Why this whole parade in the first place?

They  would not have sent me to the academy to meet new people if they wanted me in the dark. They would have kept me isolated and fed me stories. But they did not.

I could hear people clapping outside the room. There was a sort of synchronized laughter and murmur after a second. I held my phone in my hand, waiting. Ready to pick up and go meet some new vampires.

Meet new vampires? I said it as if it was normal. Like all of this was normal. I smiled. Knowing for a fact I must be going crazy.

Suddenly everything went silent. The silence was so prominent I felt I was deaf for a second. I snapped my fingers just to make sure I was not losing my hearing. Why did everything go silent so quickly?

Then I could hear screams coming from the hall. Even with closed doors the screaming was gut wrenching.

BANG.

There was a loud crash on the door. The doors bent inwards as this happened. There was another one right after a second.

Then something or someone was trying to get inside the room.

Horrified I was walking away from the door. As I reach the opposite wall I stood there scared as the door was getting cracked open. The two doors flew off its hinges. I can not imagine someone being capable of doing such damage.  The wooden doors were huge. The doors pushed through and fell on the carpeted floor.

My breathing was getting heavy. I could see my breasts heaving up and down in my tight black dress. The lights were flickering in the hall way. There was silence and I could not see who it was walking towards me. He was tall clad in black and wore heavy boots. The boots made a thud with every step he took. His face was covered with a mask. His black hair was disheveled and his eyes were a deep brown. There was something black running down his hair and eyes. Something seemed familiar about him.

I tired my best to stay strong and not fall over. My legs began to shiver with fear.

The man looked right at me and pulled his mask down.

With a wide grin he greeted me.

"Hello sister. Long time no see."

It was him. Years later he still had the features of the teenage boy I saw last time. He left home without a trace and has been unheard from for almost four years. Dad and mom were frantic to find him. But he left without a clue. He did not want to be found. He decided to run away and stay that way for all these years.
