Investigation of the Final Case (Second Half)
As Hajime entered the military base for the second time today, the bombs from the factory came to mind. If those bombs were fake, then the tank, the weapons, and everything else hazardous to the group might be fake as well. But it's not like he was brave enough to check for himself. Sonia decided to stay at the factory and look around more, so Hajime had to advance without anyone accompanying him. The only other person at the base was Kazuichi, and Hajime's presence didn't go unnoticed since Kazuichi was now staring as Hajime approached him.
Kazuichi: "Dammit... this dangerous place is the reason all this messed up stuff is happening. Leaving guns out in the open is totally dangerous! Seriously, they gotta take better care of these!" It's easy to say that, but there's no one on this island who can do that. It looks like he needed to say that to Hajime and get a second opinion, but if it were up to Hajime, all the weapons would be destroyed in an instant.
A huge supply of guns and other firearms are stuffed into one of the beds of a truck, one that resembled the one at the factory. This might be what Kazuichi was talking about, he found the weapons and couldn't help but voice his concerns.
Kazuichi: "Ah, found it!"
Hajime: "Um... what did you find?"
Kazuichi: "Well, this truck bed has guns in it, but I also found stuff like..." Without finishing his sentence, Kazuichi reached into the bed of the closest truck to him and pulled out something that was seen sticking out of Nagito's right hand.
Hajime: "A survival knife?! That's the same type of knife that was stabbed through Nagito's hand."
Kazuichi: "Which means... the killer obtained that knife here. So the killer is someone who visited this military base at least once!"
Hajime: "But that's... everyone."
Kazuichi: "No, not me! This is the first time I've been here!" That sounded fishy, it was clear that he was lying.
When Hajime first came to the military base, he saw a vehicle with loads of bombs stored in its bed. But that same vehicle's bed was now empty, which means Sonia was telling the truth. Although Hajime left searching the base to Sonia, he was able to see a good amount of it before leaving. But did Nagito know the bombs weren't real? It's possible that he thought they were the real thing. But then again, he said as much in his video message. He only did what he did to weed out the traitor, so he must've known the bombs were fake. But it's still not clear if exposing the traitor was all that Nagito set out to do, maybe there's a different motive behind his actions.
There wasn't really a lot that Hajime could learn from the military base, but the small clues can be the most crucial at times. When he was done searching the base, Hajime was free to leave the Final Island and head to the next destination worth investigating. After arriving at the Central Island, Hajime speedwalked over the necessary bridge and headed to the Fourth Island, and then he quickly headed to Nezumi Castle. With Monokuma and Monomi unable to enter and annoy him with useless remarks and unfunny jokes, he was able to enter the castle and see Fuyuhiko looking around.
Fuyuhiko: "Hey, I'm glad you're here. Look at that wall of spears. I guess it's obvious where the weapon came from." Back when the six survivors, minus Nagito, entered the castle for the first time, they saw three spears hanging on the wall. But now... there was only two. "Just as I thought... it looks exactly like the spear that killed Nagito. the same whiplike cord is attached to the handle, and there's a weight at the end of it. Plus... it looks like one of the spears on the wall is missing. There's no mistaking it, the killer took one of the spears and used it as a weapon. 'Spear of Gungnir', huh? Monokuma would totally come up with a lame name like that."
