Sweeter Than Fiction

October 5th

October 5th was a day Taylor would dread. Her late-grandmother's birthday, a day filled with grief and despair. This day just so happened to be a celebration of life for Travis, and today would be the first time she'd celebrate. Even though Travis told her it was more important for her to handle her grief and honour her grandmother; she knew that she wanted to make the first time, she'd celebrate his birthday special for him. She calls up her mother like she did everyday, and asked for her advice,

"Hi honey, is everything okay?" Andrea answers as Taylor calls.

"Hey Mom, so today's Travis' birthday and if I celebrate it, would Nanny be disappointed in me?" Taylor sobs, tears rolling down her cheek.

"Oh honey, of course she won't. She'd be proud of you, she would be so happy you're celebrating the life of someone you love. I know it's hard but trust me Taylor, I know she would want you to be happy." Her mother says.

"You're right. Thanks Mom." She wipes her tears with her sleeves.

"No worries, honey. Nanny would be very proud of you." Her mother murmurs.

"I love you Mom." Taylor says her mother was her best friend.

"I love you more honey." Andrea responds.

Taylor arrives at Travis' place where he would be celebrating with his family, only his mother knew she was coming. She would hope he would be shocked at her surprise. She walked into the singing of happy birthday and him blowing out his candles. She wraps her arms around his shoulders and says,

"What did you wish for?" She asks with her arms around his shoulders.

"Not telling you!" He winks, what he really wished for was to spend the rest of their lives together. "I didn't expect you to come. Are you feeling okay?"

"I'm alright, just happy to be here. Happy birthday!" She kisses his cheek.

"You just made my birthday better than it could ever be." He smiles.
