Alec, Serena, and Sebastian were gathered around a console table as Jace and Izzy walked over. Jace looked a little dejected and Serena didn't really need to guess why. He had probably updated Izzy on what happened at the Seelie Court, specifically with Clary, and said that he wanted to talk to her about it, that he couldn't just erase his feelings. Izzy would've said no because Simon and Clary were probably already going through it as it is and Jace actively pursuing Clary now wouldn't end well. It just wasn't the right time.

However, she knew that what she had in store would instantly put a smile on his face.

"We requested that we move Valentine to the Gard in Idris. Grandma approved the transfer," Serena explained to the duo and Jace smiled at the mention of their Grandmother whom they both kept in contact with frequently over fire messages and the occasional phone call.

"What, you told them about the assassination attempt?" Izzy asked.

"No. But we convinced them that moving Valentine out of the city is the best way to restore relations with the Downworld. We left Luke out of it," Alec answered.

"It is the right decision," Sebastian piped up.

"But we have not given up on finding who orchestrated the hit on Valentine," Alec added.

"Because it's not like all of New York wants him dead," Serena scoffed even though she knew there would be a limited amount of people who had access to his cell to pull off the deed.

"I actually have a few leads on that. I can get Serena a report by the end of the day," Sebastian announced and the blonde smiled at him.

"Great. Thank you."

He nodded as he walked off, tapping away on a tablet screen.

They then turned to their brother and sister.

"Izzy, you will be leading the transfer mission. Jace, you will assist," Alec assigned and Serena gave a wicked grin.

"And the best part is, that we need to remove Valentine's Circle rune because the new wards on Idris won't let him pass with it on," she said and the duo mirrored her grin.

"Jace, you want the honours?" Izzy asked and the boy smirked.

"Thought you'd never ask."

"Okay. I'll make the arrangements."

Serena's arm latched with Izzy's just before they left, back to their old rhythms after their conversation last night. "I'll join you. I want to make sure that the security cameras are in perfect working condition when they capture the look on Valentine's face as it happens. I want this moment immortalised."

As they walked off, Alec leaned towards his parabatai. "Tell me that I'm making the right call, 'cause, between you and me, I'm just not sure I'm good at this," Alec admitted.

"What are you talking about?" Jace asked in disbelief. "Look, you were born for this job. Hey, think of it like archery, ok? Just, trust yourself and don't hesitate, and if you do, well, that's why my sister is your Co-Head. You don't have to shoulder everything all by yourself."

Alec took a deep breath as he nodded. He gave Jace a thankful smile before they both clapped each other on the back in a hug and left for their respective tasks.

Serena leaned against the glass wall as Jace stood with the de-runing device, Valentine strapped down and three other armed Shadowhunters in the room.

"Is that tight enough?" Jace asked as he finished strapping down the man who raised them. He didn't let Valentine answer before he tightened the strap to the point where Valentine was sure he was going to lose blood circulation soon. "That's better."
