The Day of Kaveh's return had arrived, but he wouldn't be back to the palace until before sunset, so you had plenty of time to prepare the welcome home feast you had in store. when you first approached the Royal Chef with your idea he said there was no way he could allow you to cook yourself, one because you were the Queen and two it was the job of the servants

You started, "That may be true, but regardless of status Cooking is something that all can do, after all when I was still a Garden Maid I helped Lady Sidra In the kitchens a few times"

The Royal Chef started to speak again but his objections died in his throat

"Very well your Majesty,"

You smiled, "I will be in your care then, please show me what to do"

Layla yawned, "Are you sure about this my Lady?"

"of course"

You then rolled up the long sleeves of your dress, as you then first went over the menu with the Royal Chef

"I see, very well as your Majesty wishes"

Mekare brought an Apron for you to put on as she also quickly pulled your hair back into a braid, as you started helping to wash the Vegetables first

You gave them a scrub with a hard bristle brush, then washing them all the while the Kitchen staff looked on in caution. Especially so when you started helping to chop them up as they told you time and time again to be careful.

Through Noon and Afternoon you helped them to prepare the feast, and before It was time to for Kaveh to be home you quickly freshened up and changed. Afterwards you went to the Entrance of the palace to welcome him home, as you stood outside watching his procession make its way back you saw a few Carts of what looked to be Gifts from the Queen of Natlan

Upon reaching the stairs Kaveh unmounted his horse, brushing himself off as he started his Journey up to you

Feelings of relief and happiness washed over as you saw his face, not to mention longing as you'd missed him. Kaveh soon finished his journey up the stairs as he opened his arms to you, and you went into them as he held you closely

You rested your head against his chest as he ran his hands through your hair, just as you noticed he had a different distinct scent upon him

Kaveh smiled, "how have you faired my dear"

"I've been well but more so now that you're home,"

You looked up at him as he caressed your cheek, you shared a long awaited kiss but soon parted to go inside together. Along the way Mehrak filled him in on how you managed the Kingdom in his Absence daily

Kaveh smiled, "See, I knew you could do it there was nothing to worry about"

"I suppose so, I did all that I could but now...I truly see the weight of what you carry day to day"

Mehrak cleared his throat, "Your Majesty, her Majesty has prepared a-"

Mekare gave him an elbow so he wouldn't spoil the surprise, "Shh"

Just as Kaveh started to wonder, "Is Dinner prepared yet?"

You smiled, "Yes It has, and In fact...I have a surprise for you"

Taking his hands You told him to close his eyes as you guided him to the dining room, all the whole butterflies welled up in your stomach out of Excitement.

Upon reaching the Dining Hall you told him to open his eyes, revealing the sumptuously feast spread on the table. Kaveh looked in wonder as he recognized several of the dishes there

"Is that Bandari Sausage Stew?"

You nodded, "Yes!"

He noticed a few other rice dishes and plentiful stews as well, soup was one of Kaveh's favorite foods since a child

Mekare spoke up, "Our Lady spent all day helping to make these in the kitchen"

Kaveh was surprised, "Truly"

You smiled with a nod, "yes this was my Surprise I wanted to welcome you home with a meal of your favorites"

Kaveh brought you close, "My Padisarah you're so sweet, Thank you"

You kissed his cheek, "You're Welcome, now hurry before it gets cold"

Kaveh went to go sit down as he was soon served some of the Bandari Sausage stew, savoring all the flavors as he started thinking back to his childhood. Queen Faranak would often cook herself at times and prepare these things for Kaveh and the Late King, so It moved Kaveh very much

He reached over to hold your hand, and you held it back in return giving a warm smile.
