"Look at who decided to show up after disappearing without a word," your manager quipped, leaning against the counter with her arms crossed. Her eyes displayed disappointment, and her lips curved into a tight line. She shook her head, increasing the already anxious feeling inside you as you mentally cursed yourself.

"Am I fired?" You blurted out as the knot inside your stomach grew. You knew you shouldn't have let your emotions get the best of you, but what more can you do when you're just realizing it now?

"Hmm..." Your manager reached a hand towards her chin, tapping it while she locked eyes with you. There was a brief moment of silence as you both stayed still before she spoke.

"Yes," she replied, her hand tapping her chin dropped along with her face. "If you don't start working, then yes," she emphasized, and a mischievous grin crossed her face.

"But the store isn't going to open itself so get to work," your manager added, injecting a sense of urgency as you nodded eagerly, happy with her decision to keep you.

Although you had more than enough financial support from your parents, you would instead immerse yourself in work than return to the toxic environment of your home. Even the thought of facing your parents brought a frown to your face as you still have yet to forgive them for what they did. And even if you were to face them, you don't think you could ever forgive them.

"Oh and yesterday, Hinata came by to drop this off for you," your manager mentioned, her voice breaking through your thoughts as she handed you a white envelope.

The familiar name echoed in your mind as your jaws clenched, triggering an intense feeling within you. Memories of the night at the club with Hinata flooded your mind, causing you to bite your inner cheek in frustration. Even now, you can't comprehend her audacity to betray you.

"Anyway, I'll be off to make a delivery," your manager added, her words pulling you back to reality as she prepared to leave.

The moment you were left alone in the bakery, you stared at the envelope in your hand. It felt heavy, and you considered throwing it away for a moment. But something in you decided against that as you opened the envelope, revealing a letter. Maybe it was curiosity, or perhaps something in you wanted to remember the good times you shared with her as you opened the letter.

Taking a deep breath, you began to read the letter as your brows scrunched together. She admitted her mistakes there and explained that Kai coerced her for everything she did to you. Still, that wasn't enough to justify her actions for betraying you.

DING

The bell attached to the door suddenly chimed, announcing the arrival of a customer. Without a second thought, you crumpled up the letter and tossed it in the trash bin below the counter. Then and there, you decided to forget the person who betrayed you.

As you glanced up, your heart immediately skipped a beat when your eyes were greeted by your favorite cerulean eyes. It was Dabi, dressed in his signature black and white suit, looking as handsome as ever. You couldn't help but smile as you watched him head for the pastries. It was as if you and him had never seen a bad day, and this was your norm.

However, that changed once you noticed something different about the way he was today. As Dabi walked up to the counter, he remained silent as he fixed his gaze on you. It confused you. He was usually talkative, and by now, he would've said something, but this time, he was silent.

"What is it?" You asked, breaking the silence. Had you done something wrong? Were the both of you still on bad terms? You couldn't help but wonder if there were some things left unsaid between the two of you.
