Chapter 8: Home Once More

Error's POV the next morning

I shake my head as glimpses of sunlight shine into my eyes, waking me up. I open my eyes, glancing around to find myself in an empty bed. The bed I share with Reaper...I glance around, seeing that I'm home and smile. I feel my neck gently, recalling that the chain won't appear on my neck anymore but still pretty shocked. I climb out of bed, heading down the hall and recognize Reaper's snores, finding him asleep at the table as a plate stacked with pancakes sit in the center. His head rests on the table as his hands rest on a stack of plates beside him. Looks like he was preparing breakfast and fell asleep. I smile, making his coffee like nothing changed.

"Reaper...Wake up..."I say, gently nudging him

"Huh? Oh, hey Glitchy..."He says softly

I hand him his mug and kiss him on the head. He smiles at me and gently holds my hand as he sips the mug.

"You've been busy."I say

He nods, then I hear the song playing again. I frowned, seeing him hit play on his phone, the instrumental version of it.

"What...Is this?"

"I heard people humming a tune while looking for you and looked up the tune. It's from a good musical online. I even found a playlist."He says

I glance at the playlist as chills run down my spine hearing that tune again, knowing the words of it by my coworkers. Hold him down....Why did he have to find THIS song?

I set it so it ignores this song in the playlist, skipping to the next one. Then I walk into the kitchen, getting chocolate milk.

"What was that about?"

"That song gets on my nerves. Don't play it."I say

"Okay...So, um...You haven't told me what I missed with you...Umm, why were you with some cops when I saw you? Are you okay?"He asks

"All I'm saying is that my coworkers were the dumbest of the dumb and their stupidity had to be handled by the law...I simply made sure the law caught them..."

"Dumber than me?"He asks

"They were the wrong kind of dumb. The dangerous, annoying kind of dumb. You're dumb but lovable. There's a difference. It doesn't matter anyway, can we move on? And please, don't play that song. It reminds me of those dumbasses."I say

"Awwww!~ You think I'm loveable!"

"Am I wrong?"I ask

He goes quiet, sipping from his mug as his hood bubbles with hearts.

Pfft, how adorable.

He starts dishing out the pancakes onto pancakes as Raven strolls into the room sleepily. He glances at me, then at Reaper.

"Why's there a bunny in the dining room, Dad?"He asks

I hear running footsteps after he asked that and then I get knocked to the ground as two sets of arms wrap around me.

"Papa!"Shino cheers

"You're home!"Goth cheers

Luckily I set my mug down or it would've spilled on them. I smile at them as they hug me, rubbing their backs to soothe them. Shino giggles happily and then they help me to my feet again. We sit at the table together, enjoying the pancakes Reaper made. Reaper holds my hand with a smile and Raven seemed happier now.

We're a family again. And it makes me so happy to be with them without being silenced or forced away.

Then there's loud banging at the door.

"Open this door now! I order you to come out!"Gaster snaps

I groan, shaking my head. He probably thinks I'm still under his control.

"I'll go handle him."Reaper says with a frown.

He goes outside, shutting the door behind him. Then the three nod after glancing at each other, summoning numerous code screens showing various threats and schemes against Reaper. I frown, seeing that some of it is the info I gathered at work.

"We've caught a lot of chatter and heard a lot of plans against him, some intending to catch him while he is at work.  It's concerning but we weren't sure what to do about it. I've been going with him for his shifts to be safe."Goth says

"One idiot even came to me to warn Dad that his days will be numbered soon. Of course I didn't tell him that crap but still, their arrogance is getting dangerous if they think that they can pose a threat to Dad."Raven says

"I've been tracking one source that seems to be putting the most ideas out and riling people up in the chat rooms. They seem the most serious and want Dad gone, seeing him as a threat to the search for your soul. This user wants to get rid of any so-called competitors that could find you before them. I'm trying to learn who it is, which is part of why I'm so happy that you're home safe."Shino says

I glance at the info they gathered, then at their worried faces.

"I also gathered info or picked up on threats, but it's best not to worry about. You three are doing great..."I say

"What do we do about this?"Goth asks

"Do we tell Dad?"Raven asks

"No! He's way too happy right now! He doesn't have to hear about the threats on his life!"Shino says

"But we can direct him to stay out of trouble. Like banning him from going to the AU he found me in...it's too dangerous. Same goes for you Shino."I say

"Really?"She says

"Why do you think I was always there with a spear?"I ask

"To train?"She says

"Kind of had to when trouble kept trying to sneak up on you while you were distracted."I say

Her eye shrinks in shock and she hugs me close, thanking me. Then she glances up at me.

"It's kind of weird to think that I was distracted searching for you while you were actively protecting me. I'm glad I left that puppet behind to locate you."She says

"What do you mean?"I ask

"That was a puppet that I made that was linked to another puppet that I kept. I was able to listen to anything that puppet heard for information. I heard you, Papa and told Dad to find you there! You sounded hurt so I told him to hurry! If I didn't leave that behind, it probably would've taken longer to find you!"She tells me

I frown, realizing everything that she probably heard me tell the puppet, especially after being choked by Gaster's tricks, but then I smile at how clever her trick worked. And it was successful. I smile, kissing her gently on the head.

"It's so good to have you home, Papa...I will work downstairs to find a way to reverse the hacking done to you. Perhaps I'll even bake the solution so that it isn't as painful! Like in a brownie or something!"She says softly with a bright smile.

Then the door shuts and Reaper walks back in to join us. He smiles brightly as we each glance at him.

"Handled that! Now, where were we?"He says

The kids quickly dismiss their code portals before he sees.

"We were about to set some rules going forward."Shino says as her brothers nod.

"Really?"He says

"Yes, it's very important. Come sit."Raven says

I nod and he sits with us.

"Is it about the kitchen again?"He asks with a frown

"Nah, we love your pancakes."Goth says

I gently hold his hand and smile at him as he squeezes it.

"It's just out of love, Reaper."I say
