Five and a half months later, Error's POV
Tic Tick toc tic tock tic...tic, tic, toc tic tic, tock...
I listen to the clock ticking, watching Nightmare squirm in his seat uncomfortably in the silence. I'm just waiting for him to say something. I'm quite enjoying this though. He didn't expect me here. No call. No text. Just here on a hammock watching him squirm in his seat behind his desk.
"Sooo....what brings you here?"He asks at long last.
"Oh yA kNoW, jUsT eNj0y1nG hAviNg a cLeAr heAd aGaiN aNd beIng aBlE t0 m0v3. NeArlY d0n3 wiTh r3c0vErY aNd g0iNg t0 g3t an Ant1d0t3 s0 i d0n't hAve a tAiL....AnD sEeiNg tHe aSsh0l3 squ1rM hAs bEeN eNteRta1niNg."I say
"What?"He snaps
"I'm l0ok1nG aT h1m n0w."I say
"What has you annoyed now?"
"YoU d1d n0t jUsT aSk tHaT."I growl, narrowing my eyes at him
He noticeably gulps and his tentacles hang low.
"Oh...So you're mad about....that."He says
"GeE I wOndEr wHy?! It's tOtAlLy nOt liKe yOu cAuSeD tHat wHoLe mEsS to UnfOlD!"I snap at him
"Error, if I had known Shattered was among us and cause all that, I would've never come. I never intended for harm to come to you."He says
"Oh I cOuLdn't cArE lEsS abOuT what hApPEnEd tO mE! I'd rAtHer nOt thInK abOuT iT! WhAt iNfuRiaTes mE iS tHat yOu diDn'T kNow SHIT! AnD yOu diDn't tRy tO uSe cOmmOn lOgIc oR iF-ThEn thOugHts abOuT thE riSks! If I bReAk ErRoR's cOdE tHaT hE sPenT hOuRs tO rEiNfoRcE tO pRoTEcT hOrRoR's fAmiLy, tHeN wiLl tHerE bE tRouBlE? ArE tHerE rIsKs? AnYoNe hArm3d aT aLl? Nop3! NoT a s1nGl3 th0uGhT! AaAnd oo0oOh, y0u'r3 s0 ap0l0geTiC t0 m3 n0w buT y0u hAd n0 wAy oF kNow1nG i'D bE tHeRe eiThEr. YoU kNow whAt tHaT m3aN$?"I tell him
He is silent.
"YoU wErE jUsT aS eAsIlY eNdAnGeRiNg HoRrOr aNd hIs fAmIlY. AnY oF tHeM cOuLd'Ve bEeN tAkEn bY ShAtTeReD aNd g0 thRoUgH tHe hElL tHaT i diD iNsTeAd. WoULD yOu sTiLl bE s0 aPolOgEtIc iF tHaT wErE tHe cAsE? I kNoW wHaT YoU wErE tRYiNg tO dO bY cOMiNg tHeRe. YoU wErE uPsEt tHaT hOrRoR iS bEINg a mAtUrE pArEnT seEkInG tO lOoK aFtEr hIs fAmiLy, sOmEThIng sOmEonE oVeR f0ur c3ntUriEs 0lD c0uLd l3aRn t0 vAluE. YoU hAve t1me, a n3ph3w, aNd a b1g-aSs liBrArY t0 heLp y0u b3c0m3 sMarTeR tHaN tHiS. BuT n0, y0u'd rAtHeR tHr0w a tAntRuM aNd d0 a p3tTy inVas1oN t0 gEt h1m iNvoLvEd aGaIn. I sAw tHe viDeO fRoM duSt aNd I'm diSgUsTeD tHaT a 4yR oLd iS aBlE tO sCoLd sOmeOne aS oLd aS yOu aND BE RIGHT abOuT iT! ThaT saYs sOmEtHiNg aBoUt yOuR mAtUriTy oR iNtElLiGenCe! YoU aRen'T smArT eNoUgh tO tHiNk bEtTeR tHaN a kID aNd yOu WeRen'T eVen thE oNe tRaPpEd In sToNe fOr cEnTuR1eS!"I say, shaking my fists at him.
"Error I-"
"I aM nOt dOnE. WhAt iF h3 t0oK hOrr0r? WoUld y0u be s0rrY oR w0uLd y0u tHiNk y0ur pLaN t0 g3t h1m aCtiVe w0rKed? WhAt w0ulD y0u saY t0 hiS kiD oR fArmEr? Or wHaT wOuLd yOu teLl hOrr0r iF y0ur sHiT caUsEd h1s dAuGhTeR t0 b3 tAkEn? AfTer eVeRyThiNg he diD f0r y0u aNd tHis gAnG, y0u'r3 aN aSsh0l3 t0 br1ng tRoUbLe t0 hiS h0me jUsT f0r s0m3 peTty rEaSoN. He hElPeD kEeP y0u aLl heAlThy bY c0oKiNg f0r thE gAnG aNd kEepIng y0u idiOtS oUt oF unWanTed tr0uBlE eiTheR fr0m KilLer's cHa0s oR yOuR dUmB eGo mAkiNg nEw eNemiEs. AnD h0w do y0u r3paY h1m? By brInGiNg uNwAnTeD tr0ubLe t0 hiM aNd eNdAnGerIng hIs loVed 0n3s. HoW nIcE oF y0u. Y0u reAlLy kNoW h0w t0 rewArD l0yAlTY bY beiNg a d1cK. I'm cuRiOuS t0 kn0w h0w y0u'd aCt iF s0me0n3 els3 suFfErEd tHe c0ns3quEnCeS. LoOkIng FaRmEr iN tHe eYeS aNd expLaiNiNg wHy y0u lEt tr0uBle geT HoRroR oooR hOw yOu tHinK y0u'd b3 aBlE t0 lOok HoRrOr iN tHe EyE aNd saY SoRrY tHaT y0ur dAuGhtEr g0t aBduCtEd bUt y0u sHoUlD c0m3 baCk t0 tH3 gaNg aNd eXpEcT a g0oD oUtc0m3. DoN't eXp3cT hIm bAcK aNd y0u sHouLdn't l0oK f0r m3 bAcK uNtiL y0u hAvE s0me mAtuRiTy anD lOgIc t0 coNsiDer RISKS!"I snap at him
I couldn't care less about me and what I suffered. It sucked but could just be added to the long list of shit that I've experienced. What's worse is the idea that HORROR or LOVESPOON gets taken into that hell by Shattered instead! And all because Nightmare wasn't grateful for Horror's commitment to the gang enough to consider the risks when he is trying to HAVE A LIFE!
There's a long silence afterward.
"So umm...what did happen to you?"
This question again?
"YoU'rE uNbeliEvEaBl3. HoW aBoUt yOu aNd DrEaM tAkE aN aRrOw tO The cHeSt tO fInD oUt? WhAt rEsPoNsE dO yOu ExPeCt? Ya kNoW wHaT, dOn'T anSwEr. Just dOn'T puLl tHiS sHiT aGaIn oR els3."I say, quickly pulling my hammock through a portal home.
Then I get an idea, tossing him into a box with white walls.
"I th1nk tHe v0iCeS wAnTeD y0u."I say, then shut the portal.
Then I relax, swinging in my hammock at home.
"Welcome home, Papa!"Shino says, leaping into my hammock to hug me.
I smile at her, gently hugging her. Then I hear humming, glancing over to see Reaper hovering his way over. I feel my anger melt away and get replaced by my face burning, recalling the mess my mind was and how it focused on him or any loved ones. I did come back to my senses coiled around Reaper which is certainly a way to wake up when the last thing I clearly remember is him lifting me out of the bathtub. And then I was shown videos from Shino of me following lamia instincts to cuddle her, Goth, Raven, and especially Reaper. She captured anything she could since she found it adorable. I followed them EVERYWHERE. Reaper was confused by this at first, commenting in one video that he feels like he's on house arrest again and voicing his concerns about my injuries in other videos. Then I remembered the messy thoughts that I had while heavily medicated. My mind was scrambled and I was so out of it. But my mind made me imagine an average life with family doing "normal" things like picnics, beach days, family game nights, all the sort of fluff of a peaceful life. But some details still make my face burn as it imagines specifically Reaper with certain traits...or clothes...And that's just the friendlier side of my mind. It's been my own enemy lately since it easily triggers my memories of that shit at random times.
"Glitchy? Are you spacing out again?"He asks, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I hesitate, then nod.
"Sometimes I wonder what occupies that mind of yours so deeply and frequently."He chuckles
He leans in, kissing my cheek. I chuckle, glancing at him.
"ThAt mAkEs tWo oF uS. i cAn oNlY iMaGiNe wHaT g0eS tHroUgH y0uR hEaD."I say
"I guess that's true."He chuckles
Then he glances at Shino and grins.
"Let's get you some lunch."He says, taking her away.
I smile at him happily as he returns a few minutes later to cuddle me after making sure the kids are alright. He gently holds my hand, slowly slipping into the hammock beside me with a gaze that cautiously seeks permission. I nod and he leans against me, pulling me close so that my head is resting on his chest as I glance up at him. I don't know what he sees in me from his angle but his face starts burning up and he tries to hide in his hood, glancing away. I hear him mumbling to himself too low for me to hear.
"YoU oKaY tHeRe ReApEr?"I ask
"Yeah...Just...I know I say it a lot, but you're so cute to me, Glitchy. I can't help but find you as one of the most precious things, er, people in my world...And, we rarely get peaceful moments like this that last long so forgive me for appreciating it a little too much."He says as his hood bubbles with hearts
I smile widely at him and rest my head on his chest, listening to his soul beat. It starts out fast but he manages to calm it down. And I must admit that he has a marvelous melody in his soul...so calming...Then a thought comes to mind.
He is right...We hardly get good moments like these that last...Maybe we can change that....
