Chapter 11: Shattered Entertainment

Error's POV

I arrive at Horror's location, find him limping away with deep wounds covering him and a large slice in his foot. I quickly scoop him up in my strings to provide him secure comfort, cocooning him safely. I check his soul for any issues or manipulation, finding a smaller soul linked to his. It quickly clicks for me.

"HoRrOR...DeAr sTaRs..."I say, shocked by his terrible condition

"Dad...."He says softly

I frown, gently petting his head.

"YoU bOtH wiLl bE oKaY. LeT's gET y0u tHe cArE y0u nEeD."I say,

He glances at me and smiles a bit.

"Grand-daughter...Daughter...Talking to Farm about names...."He says

I open a portal, take him through, and lay him in a bed. I start healing him and bandaging his wounds.

"Where's Farm...? Little Brothers? Sorry for saying Dad...don't want to make you unco-"He asks

Dust and Killer could be the "Little Brothers"...But why is he sorry? Ugh, Horror...

"H0rRoR, y0u l1teRaLlY gAvE mE tHe h0n0r oF tHe fAtHeR p0siTiOn aT y0uR wEdDiNg. WhY w0uLd i hAvE aN iSsUe wItH y0u cAlLiNg m3 dAd? I c0uLd cArE lEsS wHeN y0u'rE c0ver3d iN w0uNdS."I say

He hesitates before nodding and smiling.

"Good to have you back....Wanted to tell you about little girl..."He says weakly, struggling to keep his eye open

I smile, gently brushing his head, and wiping his tears from the pain.

"YoU cAn tELl m3 aLl tHaT lAtEr. YoU n3eD t0 rEsT."I tell him

He nods, closing his eye to sleep.

Then there's a loud rumbling, indicating that the balance has shifted. I frown, knowing that isn't good but it wasn't loud near me, indicating that it wasn't a shift related to creation and destruction. I open the door, finding Shino waiting on the other side.

"Is Uncle Horror okay? Mister Nightmare got shaken up by the loud booming."She asks

So it has to do with his work....His balance...Wait, does that mean trouble with Dream?

"He iS rEsTINg nOw aNd tRyInG tO hEaL. cAn yOu aNd tHe bOyS kEeP aN eYe oN hIm? He iS vErY fRaGiLe aNd hIs c0d3 wAs mEsSeD wITh sO hE mAy oNlY cAlL yOu niEcE aT tImEs."I say

She whistles and grins as her brothers, Dust, and Killer pulling Farmer along each run over to join her.

"I'll care for his code and we'll watch him."She says

"Dad is napping right now after Mr. Nightmare gave him the cure."Goth says

I nod, watching them file into the room. Then I open a portal, leaving to hunt down the ones with the assignments as my code screens run with code to track them. It isn't long until I'm getting souls broken of theirs and destroying their AUs altogether. They're better gone than running about on some assignments. It was infuriating when they fled since it showed how cowardly they were. They have no problem being assigned to attack and kill my loved ones, yet are too cowardly to face me. But then again, it's fun to be destroying AUs again. Making them regret the last moments of their life. All of it.

Then I hear excited, rapid clapping and turn to see Ink sitting on a small island in the air with a grin.

"So good to see you back to destroying, Error. Your son was such a weak bore. And all it took was me making my own entertainment with a new ally."He says

I blast him away with a frown but he simply appears to my right, hanging upside down.

"Your son's just a dumb destroyer on training wheels anyway. Nothing fun about that. But now you're here and my handicap that is Dream's whining about how it isn't right is gone."He chuckles

I frown, tensing up.

"WhAt d0 y0u mEaN g0nE?"I ask

"I helped replace him. But unfortunately, he seems to have an obsession for you as well but if it gives me new entertainment, I'm fine."He says with a shrug

Then I sense something charging closer and lift myself up as Ink sinks away. I narrowly miss a tentacle swinging to strike and I watch it curl, showing the plan to just snatch me. I glance over, seeing Shattered gazing back with a grin.

"Hello, Error. It's nice to finally meet you after trying to hunt you down. Now, I'm guessing that you're growing lonelier as of lately so I think I can provide that soul some security."He says

"NaH, i'D rAtHeR n0t."I say

"Oh come on. You've hardly considered it. The future's here, it's right before your eyes. Step by step you're on your way. I can welcome you to a brighter day! Don't you know, it feels good to be alive! You could be larger than life! Bigger than the world! Crushing out the hopes and dreams of every boy and every girl! We could do it together. You could fly higher than the sky! Shine brighter than the stars! You could have all you ever wanted! All you have to do is learn the part and join the play! You know you could have plenty to gain with me.~"Shattered insists

He stands proudly with composure as if already going to get a yes from me.

"We could raise our underlings together. You give those useless souls a purpose and I train one of their friends under my influence. It'd be great to corrupt that painter boy..."He says

"TcH, s0rRy buT i d0n't aSs0ciAtE wiTh pi3cEs oF sHiT. N0t cHiLd aBuSeRs 0r wHaTeVeR y0u aRe."I say

"Oh come on! You know I'll get to you eventually, Error. I have plenty of underlings serving me. They'll get you eventually. So I'll get you eventually."He says

"WiLl y0u? WhY d0n'T y0U cHeCk?"I chuckle

He goes on his phone, typing, and waits a few moments with a confused expression.

"They're not responding...."

"YoU rEaLlY tHoUgHt i w0uLdN'T fiNd oUt aBoUt tHe cHaT RoOMS? LoOsE lIpS sINK sHiPS. aLSo, c0dE nEvEr liEs s0 i dOn'T tHiNk yOu hAVE mUcH oF aN aRmY tO hElP yOU."I say

He frowns, but only for a moment.

"Well, then I guess I can train my special underling to properly corrupt him. Who knows, I could be the dad he never had instead of that dumb uncle. Amazing how easily Nightmare confuses my spy with him."He chuckles, sinking away

I frown, quickly catching on. I destroy the AU, moving elsewhere. So not only is Dream missing, but Palette is being held captive. How long has this been the case? Was he taken and replaced by a spy before I was freed from Gaster? But Goth has been going out with him...having him over....have we had a fraud in our home?

I quickly open a code screen to start searching for Palette while another runs to locate Dream. Can't have Ink meddling with the balance...Dream may be annoying, but he is needed and shouldn't be tossed aside for Ink's boredom. Ink is just able to run wild now, which cannot continue.

Then I call Nightmare.

"Yes, Error?"

"LoCk pAlEtTe uP n0w. InK dId s0m3tHiNg t0 gEt rId oF dReAm aNd ShAtTeReD iS bEiNg aN aSsHoLe cLaImiNg tHaT hE hAs pLaNtEd a sPy wiTh y0u aNd t0ok pAlEtTe aWaY. Be vErY cArEfUl whiLe i hUnT tHeM dOwN."I say

"Shit...I'm on it....Need anything?"He asks

"JuSt mAkE sUrE EvErYoNe iS oKaY. EsPeciAlLy HoRr0r aNd tHe bAbY."I say

"Reaper isn't a baby anymore."

"JuSt lOoK aFtEr tHeM."I say, hanging up

I go back to focusing on my code screens and destroying AUs to narrow the search down.

Palette better be okay....I swear to Asgoro...
