"I'm sorry if I was stepping over the line, but I thought it'd be nice if you had a sister."

"I already have one that also acts like a mom. Eun-mi's already more than enough, sorry." Elijah told Ga-on and Su-hyeon. She then looked over at Ga-on and gave him a pointed look. "Who are you to decide whether or not I need a sister?"

Who even said something that strange and out of place? Who was Ga-on to decide she needed a sister and "gift" her a whole person to fulfill that role?

Ga-on politely but awkwardly laughed at Elijah's question, while Su-hyeon looked uncomfortable for a moment before giving Elijah a reassuring smile. The age gap between them may be a bit wide, but she wasn't some child who they needed to treat like she was glass, and if part of the reason why they were being so delicate was because of the wheelchair, then she hated it even more. It's why she appreciated Eun-mi, who never changed up how she spoke to or acted with Elijah over the years, and the same with K when they messed around in their group chat. But this whole thing felt strange, and it didn't help that Ga-on was being so overly kind to her while Elijah literally knew nothing about the woman he introduced her to.

"Ah, sorry. I misspoke. If anything, I hope you and Su-hyeon can be friends." Ga-on told Elijah while unsure of how to talk to the young girl in front of him.

"Can I talk to you casually next time so we can get closer?" Su-hyeon asked Elijah. "Or you could just call me Su-hyeon."

"Yes, that's a good idea." Ga-on quickly agreed with her.

Elijah looked back and forth and quickly put together that these two were the goody two-shoes version of Yo-han and Eun-mi. If she had to guess, Su-hyeon was the one clearly in love with Ga-on, and Ga-on was the one who, for some reason, rejected the potential relationship. She made a mental note to remind herself to ask Eun-mi later why guys were so cryptic in front of Yo-han to hopefully see him squirm a little.

"No, thank you." Elijah told them both. She ignored their shocked looks for her cold drink that she took a sip of.

"What?" Su-hyeon asked her, surprised that the young girl had said no.

"I'm not a little kid anymore. I'll be 20 in four years too." Elijah proudly told them before taking another sip of her drink.

Ga-on chuckled in amusement at that. She was 16 years old in college, a top college at that, and she was as confident as her uncle. Yep, the Kang's were a family of intimidate geniuses.

"Right," Ga-on said.

"Sure, Ms. Elijah." Su-hyeon said as well.

" Su-hyeon said as well
