Lail

"Lail I ought to beat you," My mom said pulling me out of the classroom "I raised you better than that" She pointed at me

"Mom-"

"I don't want to hear it, you don't make a girl feel bad because she admitted she liked you" she smacked the back of my head "You go back in there and apologize to her"

"But mom-"

"But mom my ass"

"I don't even like her!"

"Who cares? You don't treat women like that. What are you going to do when a girl ends up actually liking you? Gonna embarrass her too?"

"Somebody falls for me then they must be stupid"

My mom sighed looking up at me "Lail" she grabbed my chin "You are amazing. Do you understand me, you are wonderful and I couldn't be more happy to have you as my son" she patted my face "Don't let your mom-" I sent her a look and she rolled her eyes "Don't let Farrah take that away from you"

"I won't"

"Good." She yelled away and fixed my uniform "Stubborn like your father"

"I wish you'd stop defending her"

"Not defending. Just understanding"

"Understand what?" I said with an attitude

"Farah protects this family whether she knows it or not. Despite her...actions"

"Protects?" I spat at her "Did you forget everything she did-"

"Do not talk to me like that" she glared at me

"Sorry Mom"

She nodded her head "You know me and your father aren't supposed to be married and Laila isn't supposed to be here, even Matteo. Saif wasn't supposed to marry Geneva and we aren't supposed to have the family we do"

I looked away feeling upset that Matteo still wasn't home with us. We all missed him but Uncle Saif hasn't been his self since Geneva took Matteo back to Italy with her and Armando.

"Her being married to your father allows Laila to live. It allows us to be a family in peace. In secret, but in peace"

I nodded my head "Sorry"

"You don't have to apologize, just try to understand" she kissed my cheek "But you do got to go apologize to that girl, so go do it. And buy her lunch for being an asshole"

I chuckled and hugged my mom "Okay Mom"

She hugged me back "Good. I love you, Lail."

"I love you too"

"I need you to tell me what to do" I looked at my mother's urn "Asia won't just accept an apology and lunch. Maybe lunch but not the apology"

I leaned back against the wall and looked over at my grandmother's urn.
