Chapter 10

I walked out of my class. It was already lunch time. I walked my way towards my locker and placed all the things that I don't need. As I closed my locker door, I saw Zach leaning on the locker beside mine. I screamed because he scared the shit out of me.

He chuckled and smirked at me, amused. "Hi. Nice greeting."

I glared at him. "You scared me, dumbass."

He winked at me. "Then mission complete."

I narrowed my eyes at him and walked away. Even though I undeniably like him he doesn't fail to annoy me.

He caught up with me. "I think you're forgetting about our bet."

What bet? I faced him and saw that he was smirking. Ugh. That bet. I groaned.

He laughed. "It's still a bet."

"Okay fine."

We walked towards the cafeteria. I saw Lin and she waved at me. I waved back.

"Can I at least tell my friends?" I asked Zach.

"Yep, sure. I'll buy food. What do you want?" He asked.

"Pizza."

He nodded his head.

I walked towards Lin as Zach lined up.

"What's up?" She asked scooting a bit so I can sit down.

"No it's okay. Um, I'm eating with Zach today. Well, for the rest of the week," I muttered so she's the only one that can hear.

"You're eating with Zach?!" She yelled.

I slapped my hand on her mouth. Lin and her huge noisy trap.

"Lin," I groaned.

I looked around and saw that the nearby tables heard us. Including bitch Sam and her minions.

"Sorry," she smiled sheepishly. "Why?"

"Yeah, why are you sitting with Zach?" Jake asked with a disapproving look.

Even though he's kinda friends with Zach he doesn't like the fact that I spend time with him. I understand him though. Zach is the heart breaker slash rule breaker type. And yes, my brother is the same as him but he's also an overprotective brother.

"Cos' she lost a bet."

I turned my head and saw Zach with a smirk.

"What bet?" Crystal asked.

"She lost the race," he answered.

I saw Drew spit his water and started coughing. It was disgusting.

"You lost a race?" He asked me.

I glared at him. "Yes."

Surprisingly they all laughed.

"Six times," Zach added, making them laugh more.

"Wait? When did the two of you race?" Jake asked.

"Last Saturday," Zach answered.

"What?" Jake almost shouted. Then he glared at Zach.

"Okay. We're going." I pulled Zach away from the table.

He was chuckling as we sat in an empty table. He pushed me a tray of food that has pizza while he has burger.

"I'll pay," I said as I took out my wallet.

He glared at me. "No."

"But that's not part of the deal."

"So?"

I groaned. There's no way I can win this. So I just ate.

"Isn't Chase and Justin sitting with us?" I asked him as I saw Chase and Justin waved at us.

"Nah. Just the two of us," he winked.

I felt myself blush. Luckily Zach ignored it or he didn't notice.

"Why do you want this?" I asked.

He looked at me for awhile. "Um." He cleared his throat. "More time to annoy you."

I raised my eyebrows at him. I know he's lying.

He shrugged. "Maybe I want to be your friend."

I smiled at him. "You can be."

His eyes widen in disbelief.

"Yeah," I laughed nervously. "You just need to stop with your perverted comments."

He chuckled but then nodded. "And what about me annoying you?"

I laughed. "Well, as weird as this sounds. I can deal with it."

"Deal," he said as he extended his hand.

"Deal."

We shook hands. I can't help but to feel my heart quicken and the butterflies erupt in my stomach as Zach gave me a very wide gorgeous smile.

"Can I ask you something?" I asked at some point.

"Yeah. Shoot."

I chuckled nervously. "Why do you snap sometimes?"

And immediately I wished I didn't ask.

His eyes darken as they bore into me. It was so beautiful. But it holds so much pain.

"I'm sorry. Forget I asked," I said.

He nodded at me. "Sorry. I just don't like talking about it."

I nodded my head. The once comfortable silence was now gone and replaced by and awkward air.

After lunch Zach walked me to my next class. The awkwardness was less but it was still present.

"See you again tomorrow, okay?" He smirked.

I nodded my head. "Just don't scare me again."

"No promises, princess." He leaned towards me and kissed my cheek. "Have fun," he winked and then left.

He seriously need to stop with the kisses. It makes me fall for him. And I know he won't be there to catch me if I do.

I sighed and walked towards the desk where Shay is seated.

"Hey," she greeted me with a knowing and teasing smile.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Shut up."

"No I wont. Now what's up with you and Zach?"

"Nothing," I said. But I think my blush gave something away.

"You're blushing, sweetie. Now tell me," she practically begged.

I sighed. "I like him," I muttered quietly that I'm not even sure if it's audible.

"Oh, Alex. That's obvious!"

I blushed. "It is?"

She nodded. "Don't worry. Zach obviously likes you."

I shrugged. "I doubt that."

"Love, he does! He doesn't pay that much attention to a girl."

"He doesn't?"

She shook her head. "Zach just hooks up with girls. He never took them on a lunch or anywhere."

"He took me to a race track and a diner last Saturday," I murmured.

She gasped. "He took you on a date?"

"Not a date."

She rolled her eyes. "It's the same. This boy loves you!"

"Oh shut up, Shay."

She laughed. "But it's true."

How I wish that's true. Wait, no! This is just a crush.

I narrowed my eyes at her. "Enough about this. What about you? Who's mystery guy?"

She smiled widely and blushed. "You would have found out if you didn't disappear with Zach on a date last Saturday," she teased.

I decided not to comment on it.

"His name is Riley. He's so hot and sweet!"

I laughed. "I bet he is. When can I meet him?"

"Later if you want! He's taking me out today. He'll fetch me after school."

"He doesn't go to school here?"

She shook her head. "No. He's a year older than us. He's 19. Well, 2 years older than you, but a year to me."

"Oh, college boy."

"Yeah. And he's Australian."

I laughed. "Well, I want to meet him."

She nodded. "Yes! Just don't steal him. Crystal was already gawking at him last time."

I laughed. "I wont."

"That's because you have Zach," she smirked.

I shook my head.

Oh, Shay. How I wish I don't agree with you.
