Chapter 48

I sat outside of Alex's room. She's going to be discharged today and I'm assigned to take her home. And I am not complaining. Getting every chance to help her out means a lot to me.

A girl with a straight blonde hair sat beside me. She's probably 15 or so. I can't help but notice the cut above her big blue eyes.

"Stop looking," she hissed.

I was taken a back with the tone she used. "Sorry."

"Yeah," she sighed. "I'm sorry too."

"Nah, it's cool. It's rude to stare."

She nodded her head. "How's your girlfriend?"

I raised my eyebrow at her, surprised that she knows.

She shrugged her shoulders. "I heard you talking with your black haired friend."

"Oh, Chase."

"Yeah, whatever."

"She's getting discharged today," I answered her previous question.

"Lucky you."

That's when I noticed that this isn't the first time I saw her here.

"Mind me asking you something?"

"No. I asked you something. It's quits."

"Why are you here?" I asked.

I can see how much her eyes darken. "My mom's sick."

"Oh, sorry about that."

"No shit," she snorted.

This girl right here is the female version of me. Broken inside but has a strong exterior.

"So what happened to your cut?" I asked.

"Car crash."

"Car crash?"

She smirked. "Yup. Drag racing."

I shook my head.

Confirmed this girl is me.

"How old are you exactly?"

"Fifteen," she answered.

"And you're already into drag racing?"

She nodded her head like it was nothing.

"Just be careful."

She looked at me in surprised. "You're not going to go ape shit?"

I laughed and patted her head. "No. I was into drag racing before I reached 15. Just be careful, kiddo."

"I have a name, old man" she glared.

"So do I. And you being a kid doesn't make me old. I'm only 18."

She laughed at me. "You're awesome."

"That I am," I smirked.

"Hailey?" A guy around 20 called.

The girl looked at him and started to get up. So that's her name.

"Well, I gotta go. Thank's for the company."

"Ditto."

Before she could even reach the guy, I saw Chase making his way towards me. he sat down on the chair where Hailey previously occupied.

"Who's that?" he asked pointing at Hailey.

"Hailey. I think I saw my mini me in a girl's body," I said.

"Damn. I was suppose to say she's hot but with an attitude like your's? TURN OFF!"

I laughed and hit his head. "She's 15. She's more of a sister for you than a girlfriend."

He rolled his eyes at me and I hit him again.

"What was that for?" he snapped.

"For insulting me."

"This is unacceptable! Totally unacceptable!" Chase ranted as I drove.

"Chase, shut up," I hissed.

"Mate, I'm a 6 footer! You're a 6 footer so you understand how much it hurts to sit at the back. My legs are so cramped!"

I grabbed the nearest thing I could get and threw it at him.

"Ow!"

"Shut the fuck up, Chase!"

"Mean. Just mean. I thought you love me."

I rolled my eyes and continued to drive. As I drove I can't help but glance at Alex.

"You should keep your eyes on the road," she said.

My cheeks flamed.

Then I heard Chase snort in laughter.

"I am seriously going to leave you here," I threatened.

"I'm having a nap."

I rolled my eyes and just drove in silence.

When we reached Alex's house Chase quickly walked towards my house.

I helped Alex out of the car but she didn't want to. Her eyes were droopy and she was frail. I walked with her until we got inside her house. She sat on the couch and rest her head on one of the throw pillows.

"Do you want me to get you a blanket?" I asked.

She shook her head but she shivered.

I rolled my eyes. "I'll get you. I'll be back."

She didn't argue this time.

I sprinted my way towards her room and got her blue duvet that was placed on her bed. When I got back Alex was already half asleep. She was fully lying on the couch. I covered her small body with the duvet. Her eyes closed and she wrapped her body with the blanket.

I kneeled beside her and kissed her forehead. "I really do love you."

I doesn't matter if she didn't hear me.

-*-*-*-

I was seated on one of the stool and Chase was on the counter.

"Have you two talked?" he asked.

I shook my head sadly.

Chase just nodded his head and didn't say anything else.

"You're still here?"

Both of our heads turned to look at Alex. Her hair was a bit messy and she looked tired.

"Yeah. Sorry. I just didn't think it's right to leave you alone," I answered.

She nodded her head and sat on one of the stools.

"I made you soup," Chase said. He got a bowl that was in the microwave and set it in front of Alex.

"You're not serious are you?"

I chuckled and saw Chase glare at me.

"By made I meant called a restaurant to get it delivered and made Zach pay."

Alex chuckled and she ate the soup.

She haven't even reached half of the soup but she was already full.

"I'm going to bed," she announced.

"Hey. Drink your medicine first," I said.

She sat on her chair as I rummaged through her drawers. Finally I found her medicine.

"Here," I handed her a pill.

She hesitantly took it. When she was down she walked out of the kitchen.

"Her medicine is still full," I told Chase.

"So?"

"That medicine was given to her a month ago."

Chase's mouth turned into an 'o' as he realized what I said.

Is she really trying to kill herself?
