💌 41 - invitation

The school bell rings.

Sunoo began to pack his bag.

Jake throws his backpack over his shoulder and sighs. "So, what should we do after school? Any ideas?"

Jay pauses in thought tapping his chin. "Hmm, maybe we could check out the new bookstore downtown? Or... I don't know, I could use a nap after today's classes."

Jake snorts. "Okay grandpa, how about something more exciting?"

Bzzt!

A notification rang on Jay's phone, he fishes out his phone to view the message.

"Who is it?" Jake asks.

"You guys know that sophomore, Niki?" Jay asks, eyes amused as he reads the message.

They nod.

"Well, he just invited me to Yeonjun's birthday party this weekend. Plus ones are allowed to come."

Jake's eyes brightens as he heard the news. "Oh yes yes yes! We should go!"

"So I guess, a plus two then?" Jay jokes, chuckling and his own pun.

Sunoo and Jake look at him unamused and unimpressed.

Jay clears his throat. "Anyway, so yeah if you guys want to come along... it should be fun, right?"

"Hmm... I don't know, I've heard some stuff about Yeonjun. He sounds like a troublemaker." Sunoo chimes in.

"Well, Yeonjun's... Yeonjun. He's a playboy but as long as we avoid him he shouldn't bother us." Jay reassures, but ironic since they'll obviously meet him at his birthday party.

Jake slings his arm over Sunoo's shoulder. "Aw, loosen up Sunoo! It's time to celebrate! Especially now that Mr. Kang is gone forever. There's nothing to worry about now."

Sunoo sighs. "I don't know..." he speaks with uncertainty.

"Please..." Jake whines, tickling Sunoo's armpits as a means to make him laugh to which he succeeds.

Sunoo giggles. "Okay okay! Stop tickling me! I'll go. But I'm not dancing!"

"Yay!" Jake cheers.

Jay looks at Sunoo with concern. "Are you sure you want to go?"

Sunoo nods. "Can't be that bad, right? I feel bad for putting all of us under so much pressure from everything that has been going on. This is the one time where we can all have fun."

"Don't feel bad, Sunoo. Whatever you go through, we'll always be there to stay by your side remember?" Jay holds his hand.

Sunoo smiles warmly. "I know."

Jake grabs both their wrists in excitement. "Well, now I know what we should do today."

Jay tilts his head. "And that is?"

"Getting ready for the party? Duh! We're going to the mall!" Jake drags them down the hallway and through the doors, running past the school gates and onto the streets.
