Anyways. Hey. Been a minute. Idk what's happening.
...
Allow me to just say, I thought wise was spelled with a z for a hot second, so that should give you an idea to how coherent my thoughts are gonna be.
Enjoy?
Sonic had never considered himself a poet. But when he sat with heat in his arm and gold in his eye, with no physical form and a slim hope of living again, he found himself thinking.
Was it too dangerous to hope for a future?
Probably.
But he wanted to. He wanted to believe in a future that had everything he wanted.
He dared to believe he could.
"Whatcha thinkin' about?"
Silver plopped down in front of Sonic, puffing his cheeks as he smiled and planting his hands on his knees. Sonic blinked, then smiled wryly.
"Poetry," he said.
Silver blinked, tilting his head. "Poetry?" He opened his mouth, closed it, then leaned forward, planting his head in his hands. "I've never read poetry. There was one sci-fi novel that wasn't damaged in the future, but that's all the reading material I could get my hands on there."
Sonic pursed his lips, his brows furrowing. "I..."
"What kind of poetry are you thinking about?"
Sonic squinted slightly. "Honestly...that's none of your business."
"Sonic's a lousy poet," Shadow said as he slipped through the doors and crossed his arms, glaring down at the pair. Sonic rolled his eyes.
"You do better," he challenged. Silver glanced between the two rivals, his face splitting into a grin as Shadow leaned down to be at Sonic's level, his mouth opening to likely let out a scathing retort.
"Aw, you're all together."
All three heads whipped around as (Y/n) stepped into the room, ears and tail drooping despite the soft smile on her face. Sonic and Silver both scrambled to their feet, though she waved them off, pressing her hand to the wall and sliding down to a sitting position.
"Are you okay?" Silver asked, dropping to his knees in front of her, Sonic and Shadow settling on either side of them.
"As always," she replied dryly, lifting her limp arm. Sonic cringed and she winced. "Sorry, sorry." She let out a long breath, Shadow shuffling over to let her lean on his shoulder. "Look, guys. I'm going to be very real about this whole situation. I was talking to Tikal, and I'm pretty sure we've figured out how this is going to end."
"Ooh," Silver said nervously. "Uh...hit us...I guess?"
(Y/n) closed her eyes briefly, Shadow tilting his head towards her. "Well...here's the reality," she said. She lifted her corrupted hand again. "This...well, we all know this is killing me. And it's likely that we're going to run out of time, and I don't want to bring down the room, but Silver's second death is probably coming up soon."
Silver's ears flattened, glancing at Sonic, who nudged him lightly with his elbow. "With that in mind," she said, reaching for the ivory hedgehog, "Sonic and Shadow have you covered." She reached up to brush her hand beneath Shadow's glowing eye. "You'll share the immunity between the three of you, and with my help, we can banish the ghosts."
"Okay, sounds great!" Sonic said. "But...there's obviously a catch, and you mentioned that this," he wiggled his gold laced fingers, "is killing you. What happens when you take Silver's?"
