"I've got a surprise for you, [Y/N]." Luke told you; absent-mindedly placing his hand on your knee.
You grinned at your boyfriend with a hint of confusion playing in your eyes. He had requested that you do something with him tonight, and obviously you weren't going to decline him. He had started the night by attempting to cook you a meal, but of course it went wrong so he ended up ordering pizza instead. For dessert he revealed that he bought a Twix for you since they were your favourite (you hadn't got a clue what you had done to deserve all this), and now he was telling you that he had a surprise for you. He must've made some kind of mistake and be trying to make it up to you.
"Have you done something wrong...?" You asked warily, narrowing your eyes at him.
"No! What? Of course not! Am I not allowed to do something nice for my girlfriend?" He retorted, pretending to be offended.
"Alright alright, I'm sorry. What's this surprise?" You laughed, shuffling closer to him on the sofa.
"Well... I'm actually a little worried that you're gonna hate this but hopefully you'll love it. Your mum seems to think it's a great idea."
"Okay, go on."
"You've never been to Australia, and that's just not good. Everyone should've been to Australia. So I've been talking to your mum, and she booked you some time off work so that I can take you home with me and show you where I grew up. And you need to meet the rest of my family!"
Words escaped you. Forming a sentence suddenly seemed like the most difficult task in the world.
"Australia?" You repeated. You were surprised at how much shock registered in your voice; Luke had done a good job - you were very surprised. You weren't sure how he had managed to keep this to himself; he was awful at secret keeping.
"Oh god you don't wanna go, do you?" He said, his voice both nervous and disappointed.
"Of course I do!" You exclaimed, leaning forward and kissing him quickly. "You just did a really good job of surprising me. You... You want me to see where you grew up? And meet the rest of your family?" you said slowly. This was pretty big.
"Of course I do. And I figured while I wasn't touring we should go... You don't hate it, do you?"
You kissed him again, this time lingering for a little longer before pulling away.
"Would you like me to prove to you how much I love the surprise?" You whispered seductively into his ear. His shaky hands grasped your hips firmly, pulling you on top of him.
"I think that would make me feel a lot better."

Exactly one week later you were sitting in Heathrow airport with Luke, who was texting Liz about the plane times.
"I can't wait to see your mum again Luke. I've missed her." You told him, making his face light up.
"She's missed you too! She actually said she was looking forward to seeing you more than she was me!"
You laughed. Liz was great; she made you feel like part of the family.
"And obviously I'm looking forward to seeing your brothers again. Like wow."
"[Y/N]!" Luke exclaimed, immediately understanding what you were hinting.
"Sorry, but seriously. Your parents did good."
"[Y/N]!"
"Okay, okay! I'm sorry," you giggled. Luke was cute when he got defensive.
The plane journey lasted for 25 hours - of which you only managed a few hours sleep.
When you arrived at Brisbane airport, Luke had organised for Liz to come and pick you up.
"Luke! [Y/N]!" She yelled excitedly upon seeing you. You both ran over and embraced her, the three of you hugging like you hadn't seen each other in years.
"How was the flight? Are you both okay?" She questioned you immediately.
"It was tiring. But we're good," Luke told her, his grin wide and unfading. It was evident how much he admired and loved his mother just from the way he looked at her.
"I hardly got any sleep. Planes aren't sleep friendly." You complained with a laugh.
"I've missed you, [Y/N]!" Liz suddenly declared, wrapping her arms around you once again.
"I've missed you too! I was telling Luke how I couldn't wait to see you!" You informed her.
"Well we're together now. We should get your bags." Liz decided, pointing towards the conveyor belt where bags had already begun to turn up.

You drifted in and out of sleep the entire way back to Sydney - you weren't used to travel as much as Luke was. Your head rested on his lap in the back of the car (as he had insisted that you sit together in the back) and his hand gently stroked your hair, which lulled you further into sleep.
At one point the conversation between Luke and Liz brought you out of your slumber as you heard your name.
"You really love her, don't you?" Liz asked him quietly, the happiness in her tone evident.
"I love her like my life could depend on it. That's good, right?" He whispered, as if it scared him a little.
"That's great, Luke. I'm so happy that you've found love like that. Especially with [Y/N]. I love her too."
"I'm glad. I dunno what I'd do if you didn't like her."
