"GABRIEEEEEELLLLL". I called him from my doorstep. I was too lazy to go upstairs.

The brunette appeared swinging a bat and with a pillow as a shield, in only his black jogging pants. He has been taking a nap while waiting for Cass to arrive with food. He put his "armor" down when he realized everything was okay. Well at least he was going to defend the girls no matter what...

"Am, are you trying to kill me?!" He told me while coming down the stairs.

I just smiled at him and shook his keys in front of his face with my best puppy eyes.

"Why is it always me? When are you gonna drive yourself?!" He whined and went to the kitchen to wash his face. I followed him close and rested on the counter next to him.

"Why driving when I actually have a handsome friend who loves me enough to save my ass 89% of the time?" I replied poking his nose. A loud sigh escaped his lips.

"What about Lilo? We can't leave her alone and I'm not bringing her with us-" Gabe stopped mid-sentence when Cassandra walked in with four bags full of grocery shopping. She didn't even say Hi to us, and run straight to the bathroom.

"Give me 5'." Gabe snatched the keys out of my fingers and tossed the helmet at me. He returned short after with a black tee on, and his leather jacket. He looked at me up and down finally noticing what I was wearing, and smiled approvingly. I twirled so that he could see the floral skirt that I've made which reached just above knees. He just giggled.

"What's so funny?"

"I wonder how many people will see those pretty kittens that you have on your panties, that's all." Oh no, he didn't. My ears burned hot, I smacked the back of his head but my friend only burst into hysterics. He would never stop teasing me after this.

"On the bright side, I can tell my brother that I've seen more skin than him. He'll get so jealous."

"Amanda! What a surprise darling!" Kate exclaimed and made me enter the cafeteria which was already closed. The music was low and the most of the lights were off. Our typical spot was decorated with flowers and some candles, the table already set for four people.

"Amanda is here? Hullo, sweetie! It's been a while." Will gave me a short hug.
It seemed as they didn't know I was coming. What on earth did you do Dimitri?

"Oh, were you waiting for someone?" I asked puzzled. My friend was nowhere around and my nerves only improved.

"You won't believe this Amanda! Apparently, Dimitri has a girlfriend, can you imagine?" Kate asked me with happiness all over her face. Her chocolate eyes, identical to Dimitri's, were lighted like a little girl. She always looked happy and was the sweetest woman on Earth. It was easy to love her you could notice that Gabe and Mitri had the same sense of humor as her.

"A girlfriend? I wonder who the lucky girl is!" I said feeling bad already for lying to her.
"We don't know! Will you be staying for dinner? Dimitri has been cooking like mad. I'll tell him you are here." Said Will and disappeared to the kitchen without waiting for my response.

Kate dragged me to the table and whispered, "Between me and you, although I was quite surprised that you aren't his girlfriend, I must admit I was relieved. Imagine, If he dates you, he will lose his best friend!"

Okay, we have to abort this mission now. I mean, how can I break her heart like this? How can I lie to someone like Kate?

"Can you imagine me dating Dimitri? It would be so weird!" I exclaimed while getting up. I've raised my voice without noticing, "You know what? I'll see if Mitri needs any help, I'll be right back."

I rushed into the kitchen and told Will to go back with Kate, when he left I closed the door and leaned against it. And there he was, surrounded by a cloud of flour, with chocolate in the corner of his mouth.

After watching him for a couple of minutes, I closed the space between us and hugged him from behind. Dimitri turned around to face me with a spoon full of brownie mix, without saying a word I liked it clean.

"Delicious."
"Are you nervous?" He asked searching for any kind of doubt in my face.

"We can't do this to them, not today." I replied putting an apron on.
"Mom is so excited about it, and I know my dad will be more that happ-"

"No, Dimitri." I interrupted him, "She told me she felt relieved that I wasn't your girlfriend." I started fighting back the tears that burned my eyes. "If we dated, you would lose your best friend... and, and, she is right!" I threw the dirty bowl in the sink and started washing it.

"Kitten, woaahh, Amanda." My friend said and hugged me. I couldn't hold back the tears anymore, Kate was right. What would happen if things didn't work out between us? I wasn't ready to lose my best friend.

"Am, isn't that the great part about a relationship? To be with your best friend? I have told you that I love you like, a million times since I met you, and I meant it every. single. time." He slowed down emphasizing the last part.
Mitri made me look at him and wiped the tears that were falling down my face. I was overwhelmed. The fact that he was actually trying to keep this lie going, even in front of his parents, made me realize how lucky I was.

I clenched at his shirt and brought him closer to me. "You are right, but still...let's just don't do this today, okay?" I pleaded.

"Of course, we can wait. I'll tell mom that my girlfriend stood me up or something. On the bright side, guess what?"

"What?"

"I made your favorite brownies."

"Well, I know my son is a lady catcher but I also know you are the one who always got him into trouble, so I wouldn't be surprised." William winked at me.

"Oh Will, remember that time they were scaring Martha with water balloons?! The poor woman almost had a heart attack!"

Our laughter echoed the cafeteria. I was stealing some bites from Dimitri's brownie because I've finished mine like fifteen minutes ago. I snuggled closer to him and he put some ice cream on my nose... I have to admit I was having a great time.

Dimitri just told his parents that his girlfriend wasn't ready to meet them to which they understood perfectly. I faked surprise and now we were retelling old stories about our childhood.

"In our defense, Martha never let us play with her puppy. That woman deserved it!" I exclaimed and another round of laughs invaded my body. Dimitri's phone has been vibrating like crazy during the last hour. He had apologized but never turned it off, so when another phone call entered I couldn't resist.

I reached for it before him and ignored my friend's pleads of returning him his phone. Dimitri tried to tear it from my hands but I was faster than him and escaped his moves.

I answered without looking the ID and I wasn't ready for what followed. The voice that went through the speaker only belonged to Hailey.
