"Well? Did I pass?"

"It's okay... Who would have thought you had a bit of taste?" Muttered Reina through gritted teeth eyeing the dress Cleo was wearing on the meeting. Laura, on the other hand, hadn't said a word since we started.

My grandmother wanted a meeting to see how the collection was going on and the only dress that could fit someone like Cleo was an old design I'd made long ago for Cassandra to wear.

It wasn't even a good design. But when the devil calls for a meeting with only a day in advance and you need to keep a secret... well, you need to improvise... And luckily, we had saved our asses, at least for a while.

But what I couldn't believe was that Reina liked it. She liked it, and it was a design that made me cringe, if she could see the real ones then... the fashion show will be a huge success. I can't wait to see the face of the twins when they find out it was me and not Cassie the one responsible for the new face of the company.

"The little beast can stitch, wow... so did the mouse of Cinderella. Can we end with this now?" Danielle asked without glancing at us.

Oh no, she didn't.

"My dearest cousin, I have five fingers, but I always save the third one just for you." My sister replied with an innocent smile and winked at Cleo. "Now, come on Reina. Can we all finish this and get back to our lives?"

My grandmother ignored the comments of my cousin and sister, and got seated. After putting on her glasses and analyze some papers she had in front of her for what seemed like hours, she spoke.

"As I've seen you have everything sorted out already, I've decided we shouldn't wait until the Fashion Week to present the new collection."

"And that means?" Cassie asked with a smug smile on her face.

Shit. This is not looking good...

"We'll present it next week."

Next.

Fucking.

Week.

That's when I realized what we have been ignoring all this time.

You could never win against someone like my grandmother. We had underestimated her, I had been so blind. So stupid. It was idiotic to think she would let us be an active part of the company, and by doing this she was making sure we failed.

Reina was everything but dumb, it was her wit that had made her the ruler of a company that stood strong for decades. Ninn & Co was successful because of her and no one, not even her own family could ever take that away from her.

"With all due respect, Reina, it's too soon and you know it." My mom intervened straightening her back.

"Elizabeth, whether you need more time or not doesn't concern nor interest me." Reina dismissed her comment with a wave of her hand; she then looked at Cassandra and continued. "You will present the collection next week, if it succeeds, that would leave you enough time to design something to the Fashion Week in New York."

"I can't Reina. I need more time, please." Cassie said in a low voice, grabbing my hand under the table.

"It's either you do that, or you quit. You can have access to the money of our account. Use it wisely and end with this. Come with me Elizabeth, I will give you the bank details." And with that, she left, followed by Danielle and Laura without even glancing at us. My mom was still unsure, but I made her a sign to go with them. At least we could have money to pay everything in advance.

David, on the other hand, remained seated. His clear eyes fixed on Cleo.

If Cleo had told him anything about our little outing, he didn't seem to know. The thing with David was that you never knew what was going on inside his head. While you could see the evil irradiating from Danielle, her brother's passive personality made him even harder to figure out.

He was the type of guy you wouldn't want to hang out with, but not for his looks... but because of his mind.So when didn't go away with them, I could only picture the worst. Or at least that was what my years of being bullied by the twins had taught me to do.

After what looked like years, he spoke in a gentle voice that made my insides tremble.

"My love, do you like this dress?"

"It's gorgeous, isn't it?" Cleo replied twirling like a child.

"Cassandra," he started finally looking at my sister, his face changing to a polite smile, "how much do you want for it?"

What the actual fuck? Is this a dream? Someone should wake me up, no, not really. This part of the dream is awesome I-

"Well? How much?" David asked again getting up and holding hands with Cleo.

"Um... eh... It's a unique piece and I really don't know but... How much are you willing to pay?" Cassie asked more to herself than to David. He chuckled.

"Listen Cass, you wanted to swim in the tank, now get ready for the sharks. If someone asks you something, you don't reply with a question, you hear me?"

My sister gulped and fixed her hair.

"Okay. Yeah, so... Like... 1500?"

Are you insane Cassie? There's no way in hell he could accept something li-

"Deal."

"What?" My sister and I exclaimed in unison.

"Don't act so surprised, he has taste and knows when to make an offer." Cleo intervened, patting my arm in a friendly way.

David just rolled his eyes and kissed Cleo on the cheek. "I only want to make you happy, my love. Now, here you go Cass. Keep up the good work, now if you excuse us." He said heading to the door with his girlfriend, leaving us still shocked by that casual interaction. When they reached the door, David turned back and said, "By the way, I would have paid 5000."
