The Ten Jubilee Prophecy

This goes back to 2008 when Rabbi Judah ben Samuel's (a noted Torah scholar) prophecy dealing with the Messianic end time was revealed. People jumped on this and interpreted it to mean that Jesus Christ is going to return in 2017 based on the Jewish calendar and a jubilee year cycle from Leviticus 25.

"And thou shalt number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and there shall be unto thee the days of seven Sabbaths of years, even forty and nine years. Then shalt thou send abroad the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month; in the Day of Atonement shall ye send abroad the trumpet throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of the undressed vines. For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. In this year of jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession. And if thou sell aught unto thy neighbor, or buy of thy neighbor's hand, ye shall not wrong one another. According to the number of years after the jubilee thou shalt buy of thy neighbor, and according unto the number of years of the crops he shall sell unto thee. According to the multitude of the years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of the years thou shalt diminish the price of it; for the number of the crops doth he sell unto thee. And ye shall not wrong one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am Jehovah your God."

Most people interrupted this to be 50-year cycles, but others think it's 40 years. Some of the fulfillments of this prophecy have occurred. The Ottomans conquered Jerusalem and ruled over it for eight jubilees. In 1517, 300 years after Ben Samuel's death, the Turks conquered Jerusalem and ruled for eight jubilees. The British conquered the Turks and ruled from 1917 to 1967. That's one Jubilee. The Jewish nation took over after the 1967 six-day war and is to rule until the Messianic end time in 50 jubilees, which should be in 2017. Yes, this prophecy has been right on so far. But . . .

One problem with this idea is that the Messianic end time is not the second coming of Christ. The Messiah was supposed to come in the ninth jubilee, but this was not the case. It's supposed to be the end time, but not necessarily the second coming. Daniel 12:4 9-10 indicates that the end time is not about Jesus coming:

"And he said, Go thy way, Daniel; for the words are shut up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but they that are wise shall understand. And from the time that the continual burnt- offering shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand and two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shalt rest, and shalt stand in thy lot, at the end of the days."

This reads more like the unveiling of prophecy not a prediction of Jesus' coming.

The problem with this jubilee prediction from Ben Samuel is that the original source is lost. It's a copy that can't be verified, and there is also a problem with the translation. Who translated it?

It appears that question is not going to get answered soon.

Thanks for reading.
