JonBenét Ramsey

I may as well discuss this case because it's interesting, perhaps more controversial than the Madeleine McCann case.

JonBenét Ramsey was a six-year-old American beauty queen who ended up being murdered in the basement of the Ramsey's home in Boulder, Colorado on December 26, 1996. This is how this case differs from the McCann case. In this case the victim had been hit on the head and strangled. There was no doubt that it was a murder.

JonBenét Ramsey was born in Atlanta, Georgia and what the youngest of the two Ramsey children. Patricia Ann Ramsey, her mother, was infatuated with her daughter being entered into child beauty contests. JonBenét had won several titles in these ridiculous contests that seemed to be popular at the time.

Her father, John Bennet Ramsey, was president of Access Graphics, a computer company that was a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin. There was no doubt that the Ramsey's were wealthy.

What was really weird about this case is that the Ramsey's claimed that they received a ransom note, demanding 118,000 for JonBenét's return. However, the authorities asked to search the house and found the child's body in he wine cellar room, covered with a white blanket and with a nylon cord around her neck. Her hands were tied above her head and she had duct tape across her mouth. She had not been raped, but child molestation was undetermined.

The police botched this case by not sealing off the crime scene and not using proper forensic procedures. There is little doubt that her mother murdered the child, but she was never indicted.

To make this case even more bizarre, a 41 year-old teacher, Mark Karr, falsely confessed to killing JonBenét Ramsey in 2008. Samples taken from the child's body had an unknown male's DNA. It's also believed that JonBenét Ramsey's mother wrote the ransom note, but it couldn't be proven. There was no signs of abuse or molestation or anything that would be consistent with child abuse. The mother died in 2006 from ovarian cancer.

There are all sorts of rumors about who committed the murder, including a gardener. I've even seen a claim that Katy Perry is JonBenét. Most incidents like this create conspiracy theories.

The fact is that parents commit many child murders. This is a sad situation, but it's a fact of life. The main question here is: why did the mother do it? Was she jealous of her daughter's fame? It would suggest that she went crazy. This is just another case of a child murder without resolution or justice.

You have to keep in mind that no one was indicted for this murder. In order to get a conviction the authorities need good evidence that will stand up in court. Apparently, that was not the case.

Supposedly, JonBenét's brother is going to reveal more about the murder to Dr. Phil, specifically if he had anything to do with it. I think this is nothing more than a ploy to get ratings. I doubt that anything will come of it, in my opinion.

However, there is always the possibility that the mother didn't do it. You never know.
