Confidence. I'm radiating it as I strut into the ministry. I go straight to the arrors' office.

"I'd like to see Harry Potter." I say to the secretary.

She doesn't look at me as she says, "Who are you, and what is your business with Mr. Potter?" She then looks up at me and stutters, "Oh, Ms. Granger! I'm so sorry. I'll call Mr. Potter right now. Please, have a seat."

A minute later I see my old best friend emerge. He looks scruffy. His hair is messier than it was in school, and he has a new gash that goes across his face from his left temple to the right side of his mouth. If I didn't know Harry, I'd think he was quite scary.

"Hermione. Come in."

I follow him through an office area with several cubicles littered about. There were arrors scurrying around everywhere. We walk into the far office with Harry's name on the door. He guides me inside with his hand.

The office is large. There are many file cabinets and book cases in the walls. There's a large oak desk under a large window that is magicked to mirror the weather outside. I sit in one of the chairs in front of the desk and watch as Harry sits in the big leather chair behind it.

"So, based on how you're dressed, and how your hair is up, in guessing you need something. But, if it's anything to do with Ronald, I'm sorry, but I can't help you. Anything else, we'll see."

"You're going to give me a job." I say as I watch him take a sip of his tea, which he almost spits out once he hears what I said.

"I'm what?" He asks, wiping the tea from his chin.

"Going to give me a job. You know I can do it. I helped you all throughout school. You would've died if it weren't for me. You owe me your life Harry James Potter." I'm starting to ramble now.

He just looks at me, sighs, then says, " I'm well aware of everything that happened Hermione. But when was the last time you worked? It's one thing to help me in some woods. But as an arror, it's different. Some weeks you spend more time in Saint Mungos than you do working. You could die at any time. "

"I ran that risk all during Hogwarts, Harry. I think I can handle that. And you know I'll work hard. I was top of our class, not to mention the only one of the 'Golden Trio' to go back and take my N.E.W.Ts. " I use air quotes around 'Golden Trio'.

"I know, but you haven't taken the training. It's hard, trust me. And it's not all about brains out there. Sometimes it's about agility."

"I'll go through the training. I've never done anything without studying. I don't just jump into things. You know that. You know me! You know I'll work my ass off until I'm the best. You know I'll work my hardest to get things done right. I know it's not all about brains, but you of all people know I'm more than brains. And if you've forgotten that, then I'll just leave now."

"I know, Hermione. It's just if anything were to happen to you..." He trails off, and I know he's thinking about Sirius and Remus.

I reach out and grab his hand, " Harry, Please." I whisper.

He looks at our hands. Looks up at me and says, " Will you come over tonight? Luna misses you, and so do I."

"Yes, of course. Now, back to the subject."

"I'll see what I can do, I'll let you know by Friday."

Today is only Tuesday...

I floo to Harry and Luna's house and can't help but feel at home as soon as I land. It was a cosy home, two bedrooms, an open floor plan and vaulted ceilings.

"Why, hello, Hermione. What a pleasant surprise." Luna says as she walks toward me to engulf me in a hug.

She looks the same as she did in school. Her blue eyes were dreamy, but piercing.

Her and Harry got together shortly after Weasley and I got engaged. They're perfect for each other. She's just crazy enough to listen to Harry, and he's just sane enough to laugh at her jokes. They balance each other out, yet are enough a like that they get along. She helped him so much after the war, and for that I will always be grateful.

"Did your husband not tell you I was coming over?" I say and she blushes at the word husband.

"He said you stopped by his office, but he never mentioned you coming over. Are you staying for dinner?"

"Yes, I believe I will." I smile back at her.

"Wonderful! I will set an extra place setting then." And with that she walks to the kitchen and starts setting the table.

I never realize how much I miss her until I'm around her again. She's so sweet and strong.

"I haven't talked to you recently. I heard about Rosie. How are you doing?" She asks with her voice full of concern.

"Honestly? I'm struggling. I feel like I've lost everything. And I don't have anything to distract myself." I look down at my shoes and try to blink the tears out of my eyes.

"Oh, Hermione, I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do? You can stay with Harry and I if you need to. Our door is always open. You know that. I still can't believe Ronald." She spits his name and I flinch. I've never heard her talk in that tone before.

*crack*

"Hello, Harry, dear. How was your day?" She says as she walks over to him and kisses him. He picks her up and spins her around and I can't help but smile. My best friend is so happy with her.

"My day just got better." He grins. "Oh, hullo, Hermione. Nice of you to join us."

"Hello, Harry. Long time no see." I say with a wink. He laughs and walks over to hug me.

Oh, how I missed them.

"Hey, Mione, can I talk to you in my office real quick?" He asks.

"Yeah, okay." I'm nervous he still has another day until he said he'd have an answer, maybe this is bad.

We walk into Harry's home office and I notice how different it is than his one at work. It has brightly colored walls, but they're not too bright to the point of being gaudy. He has several plants around, many that bloom. And he has a glass desk rather than an intimidating oak one.

"So, as head of the arrors department, I have to talk to the minister about all new recruits. And we didn't have a position open." He pauses and looks at me.

Damn it. Now I have to find some place else to work. But where?

"So, as head of the arror department, I created a position. As you see, I have many connections and as the savior of the wizarding world, pretty much everybody owes me." He smirks at his remark and I can't help but crack a smile. "So, I set up a job for you as our very first investigator slash detective. What d'ya say?"

I'm grinning ear to ear by this point. "Sounds perfect, Arror Potter."

"I'll give you the specifics on Monday, Detective Granger." He replies with a wink.
