'Josh?'
'Simon...' He was next to me in the bed, his hands in mine.
'You woke up screaming again.'
'I can't help it.'
'Do you want me to stay with you?'
'Please.'
'Don't worry. I'm always here.'

I woke up once again- this time, into real life.
'Josh?'
'Simon...' He was stood by my door.
'You woke up screaming again.'
'I can't help it.'
'I know. You're okay. I'm going back to bed.'
'Simon?
'Yeah?'
'Will you be here if it happens again?'
He paused at the door.
'Don't worry. I'm always here.'
I wiped my head, pushing my hair back as Simon left. I was used to the dreams by now, but it didn't mean they didn't leave me in cold sweats.
All I could think of was what Vik told me only a few days ago.

'He still loves you, Josh. I'm sure of it.'

I stood up, my eyes bleary and my head throbbing, and checked the time. It was 5am. I rubbed my shoulder with my left arm and started walking down the stairs to the kitchen.
When I got there, someone was sat at the island in the dark.
I switched on the light and Simon looked up. His eyes made it look like he had been crying but his face was dry when I sat opposite him.
'I thought they'd stopped?' he said, a shaken tone to his voice.
'They came back.' I murmured.
'When?'
'I don't know... around when you left.'
I stood up, unable to bear the pain I found in his eyes, and grabbed a paracetamol from the cupboard.
'I miss you.' I heard him whisper. I turned round, and he rose from his chair.
'I'm right here, Simon.' I said, my eyes searching for a scrap of what we used to be in his eyes.
'I know.' he mumbled, looking down at his feet before looking up at me and leaving the kitchen.
I heard his bedroom door shut upstairs, took the paracetamol and rested my head on my arms on the island.
I wouldn't get much more sleep tonight.
